well, many of you might be knowing this one but still here it is :-
The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along, they passed some people who remarked "it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding". The man and boy thought maybe the critics were...
i always strive to finish any book that i read though there are a couple of exceptions
"The Summons" by Grisham : it was hopeless
some book by John Le Carre : his writing style was too much to digest
it really irritates me if there are any books half read
went to buy The HItchhikers Guide yesterday .. havent read it yet and desperately want to.. but all the bookstores here sell only the entire series together and not just the first book!
i guess ill have to buy a pirated version
aaaaah i forgot that you had clairvoyance Ms Rowling:D
but i thought it wouldnt be to that extent that you could guess my secret hobby
a deal.... no more leaks about my (ahem) fascinations and i would send you my newest stitched petticoat
Tolkien's books are tedious and long drawn agreed. but he has to be commended to create an entire world within three books that has swept the world of its feet. so i am not sure he is the author that anyone can 'hate'. and come on ..if you write 1000 pages of literature there has to something or...
i read only fiction, preference being given to crime ,thrillers and comedies like those of P G Wodehouse though i keep telling myself its high time to read some autobiographies. i am also into SF , fantasy and i like good comics.
i probably have read a little bit of everything but am not deeply...
yes its that one
well at least you can say that the new title is more attractive. but take the case of "Murder is easy" being changed to "Easy to kill"
even the meaning is same!!
even those who havent read the book will agree that the change has no purpose. it is neither more illuminating...
thanks about that:D
you've heard it before?????? aah of course i might have slipped it in one or the other of my press conferences;)
more about "A Lesson before Dying"... i give an open challenge to anybody who reads the book and says that he didnot cry later
yes it is the same book
i understand this reason for changing the name of the book but otherwise i have observed that for no reason whatsoever the name is changed in the states.
like "The Moving Finger" was renamed "Poison Pen". what was the sense in doing that? just for the heck of it?there...
lol
:D
i know that Sherlock is the most popular detective ever.but i personally have been unable to accept that the stories are possible.they are thrilling yes but the deductions are too farfetched and as i have said somewhere..every action can have a thousand consequences and so predictions...
yup sherlock books are for kids.senseless thrill. what differentiates Christie from other authors is the handling of the psychology...of the crime , murderer and the detective and considering it of prime importance. she gives more focus on how the detective found the truth and approaches the...
so who's your favourite detective?
mine is Poirot ofcourse followed by Tommy-Tuppence. i dont like Jane Marple.
did you know that Mrs Oliver was Christie's spoof on herself!!
that just shows her sense of humour though i am sure she wasnt like Oliver
and ....ahem .... any more agatha...
