'The Martian Chronicles' by Ray Bradbury. Started it today and am only 45 pages in, so can't make much of a judgement, but I loved the 'second expedition' story, mixing black humour with quite a dark ending that actually raises questions most unexpectedly considering the tone up until that point.
I think it was probably a few months ago when I kicked my friend rather hard in the jaw. An eyewitness account described it as 'awesome,' because 'it was silhouetted against the sunset and his head just snapped back and blood came flying out of his mouth.' I felt very bad about it though, as the...
"Folks are mostly disfigured or dead
So I thank the Lord each day
For the Apocalypse!"
(Sung in true a redneck stylee)
Cookie for the first person to spot the reference. Well, I'll think 'cookie' in their general direction.
Apart from the true names element, that doesn't sound much like Earthsea really - however I have only read the original trilogy so it could be from the latter books.
Having finished it, I have to revise my opinion of 'The Songs of Distant Earth.' The ending is a simply-worked emotional masterpiece, and the exploration of so many different kinds of loss and guilt, set against the greatest source of these feelings, the destruction of earth and the music...
My tastes are very varied, but at the moment I'm listening to quite a lot of anime and game scores. High on my list are:
Games
Zelda OoT Hyrule Symphony: Koji Kondo
Zelda Wind Waker: Koji Kondo
Chrono Trigger orchestrations: Yasunori Mitsuda
Deus Ex: Alex Brandon
Grim Fandango: Peter...

With the exception of GF? Why Grim Fandango is the best of the bunch! Don't miss it for the world, THE WORLD! (Which you can easily reclaime after a night on Civ III anyway) as for BS3, it wasn't the difficulty that I had problems with, but more the pushing of crates. Or suspiciously squared-off...
Easy to defeat warriors from the past. You just look at them with an endearing smile spread across your visage, and in a most ingratiating tone say "Grandpa!" They will have no option but to slow down in their charge, exchange wardress for sensible trousers and slippers and give you a Werther's...
I re-read lots of books, but rarely is it ones that I did not enjoy the first time - there are so many other books out there to read, and quite likely that I shall enjoy, that it seems a waste of time to trudge through a book that I didn't enjoy the first time again.
