A Host of Shadows by Harry Shannon

From the author of Dead and Gone (now also a movie), Daemon and Night of the Werewolf comes a new collection by Harry Shannon published by Dark Regions Press entitled "A Host of Shadows." One of the stories that appears in a Host of Shadows entitled "The Night Nurse" is currently on the final...

Thank you for this, I'll definitely check it out.

    Stephen King: Under the Dome

I thought the book was a solid 8 / 10 overall. Big Jim Rennie was by far the best character, Barbie was ok, though I never felt a whole lot for him. The best King novel I've read in recent years was Duma Key.

    Dan Simmons

I still have Hyperion sitting on my shelf. Really need to get it together and start on it!

    Knut Hamsun: Hunger

Could you copy and paste the synopsis?

    Sterotyping people that read.

I think this is largely due to the fact that younger generations are increasingly in front of a screen rather than in front of a book. Reading is only considered normal when it's reading on the internet, a sad state of affairs. Don't let it bother you, once you're older you'll realize...

E-Book price war is heating up

To those who have e-readers: what has been your experience reading for long periods on them? Is it comfortable over longer spans of time?

Me, the dwarves, Gandalf and Bilbo just left Beorn's hall on a route towards more dreaded adventure!

    Books based on isolation/solitude

Thanks guys, I'll definitely check out Geralds Game. Into The Wild! How did I not think of this? I loved the movie, but especially love the concept. Thank you so much, I'll be getting this one soon.

    Books based on isolation/solitude

I'm very fascinated with stories where the character is completely by themselves, preferably isolated from the world in some form. Are there any books that you folks could recommend that have the protagonist in such a predicament?

    Barnes and Noble's Nook

This looks great, but it scares me a little. I understand the appeal, and I think they should certainly be used in academic settings, but I just hope we don't see the production of physical books drop too dramatically. Because to me nothing will ever quite match reading a real book.

    Your February 2010 Book(s)?

In Feb I want to start on Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice and possibly also the extended version of The Stand by Stephen King.

    Robert Kirkman: The Walking Dead

It's worth it. I'm not going to say it's incredible writing, but as the author puts it its like the zombie movie that never ends. Which, in my book, is a really great thing :)

    Lost: Season 6

We are getting very close my friends. Are there any Losties on the boards?

    Reading The Hobbit by candlelight

My ask where you're living? That must certainly make life hard with the power always going out. Yes, here it is a fairly rare occurrence.

    The official 2012 apocalypse thread

Boy oh boy, I just can't wait for absolutely nothing to happen on December 21st 2012 so I can point and laugh at all these morons who are the same people who bought into the Y2k hilarity.

    First-person Tetris

Yeah, this is a clever little spin on Tetris. Just when you think they can't add any more to the game they figure something out.
