Is it me, or the seperate bands Beady Eye (led by Liam, plus the rest of Oasis) and High Flying Birds (with Noel), better than Oasis ?
See, I could never get into Oasis, but I gave a try to the Beady Eye & High Flying birds albums, & oh boy am I impressed. Then I gave another try at Oasis...
:stars4:
"Life's going to be melted down, all over the world." (Helen, upon observing the red dust beyond the meadows of Howards End, approaching slowly but steadily)
An absolute work of Art which focuses on the successful cosmopolitan types as represented by the Wilcoxs’ & the more...
Beady Eye - Different Gear, Still Speeding...
I like this album so much, that I felt I should give Oasis (whom I never got into) another try. Hence I gave their best of album, "stop the clocks", a spin. But I still cannot get into the Oasis, while Beady eye is pretty cool!!!
2011 is almost over & what would I think of as the albums that impressed me the most ( in no particular order )... ?

duh.... like, have we put an end to BOTM ? Hope you haven't. Classics as BOTM is ok, as it'll pressurise us to read them which we've been postponing for years....
snoberry ?
While agreeing whole hearedly with what Beergood says, I couldn't help noticing the emphasis paid to snobbery albeit subtly for the first 90% of the book, and then Sally Seton's rather blunt allegation during her chat with Peter Walsh at Clarissa Dalloway's party. For Clarissa...
on duran duran & radiohead CDs..
After listening to these CDs many a time, I would like to give "all you need is now" 4 1/2 & " "king of limbs" 3 1/2...
other albums listened to - "so beautiful or so what?" - paul simon; "21" - adele; P.J. Harvey's new CD... Simon's CD is pretty good. Adele is tad bit too pop-inclined for my liking.
but the CD from Foos & the Duran Duran CD stand out.
..will look out for the new 'peppers' CD, the new...
... and also blessed (lucinda williams) & collapse into now (R.E.M.)... Just listened to the R.E.M. cd a couple of times yet. Somehow it sounds a bit repeated, & well, predictable.... let's see whether repeated listens will make it sound better. The Duran Duran & the Radiohead, referred to...
I like this book as a whole; other than the co-incidences that is, especially about the bully - kind of has a bollywood feel to it.
However I like how Amir regrets his weaknesses.
I like this book for the sense of serenity that is born in one while reading it. It was a kind of a nice experience ( and I am an agnostic i.e. Buddhist).
But it is not the kind of book that makes you a changed person as it sometimes subtly suggest.
so I am not alone about "Love in the time of Cholera". Though well written, it is sometimes long-winding & at the end of book I was left wondering what it was all about. Somehow or the other this book has postponed me from picking up hundred years, which is in my bookrack already for the last...
Trivia: Radiohead has produced 13 children between them & the album is dedicated to them.
Looks like everyone is crazy about releasing albums with less than 40 minutes of runnung time. Well, I guess it is quite okay, as 40 minutes is about the time that one can listen at a stretch. i've have...
