I remember half-rotten pig cadavers - it was art.
I remember goldfish in blenders - it was art.
I remember 'whatshisname' wrapping buildings in plastic foil - it was art.
The first I merely found disgusting, and didn't see much art in how they were cut and arranged. The second I did see art in...
It's sad that you're bogged down with issues that affect your working life like that. But seen from the employer's perspective then, yes, I would fire you if you did not deliver the work I was expecting from the position I hired you for.
That said, I wish you and your partner all the best :)
I just wanted to pick up on this since there was no room in my previous post for more yada yada :P
I fully agree. As I see it the difference lies between 'existing' and 'living'. People can exist to the very end and can be kept alive far longer than is reasonable, their condition considered...
As far as I'm aware the talk goes on being in pain for the last months of your life, not about being disabled or about being terminally ill in general. I know I would be able to bear either of the two you mentioned because I'm as stubborn as mule. Just because I may not be able to run a marathon...
That's not what I heard from those terminally ill patients who just wanted it all to end. To them it was about pain. Dunno who you're thinking of... not the people I heard statements from, that's for sure.
Why does personal choice have to be a fantasy? Do we not live in a society that values...
I'm reminded of a time when I heard a friend tell me the whole long story about how her latest relationship went down the drain. During the telling I had been listening to all the mishaps and mistakes that happened, and when she finished off with relating her biggest mistake in the whole thing...
Ohhh those poor poor parents, how they must suffer when their kids beg to get this item or another because they've been watching tv commercials.
I never begged my parents for anything when I was a kid (and when I was a kid tv-commercials had not yet come to Denmark)
...
oh....
wait...
I did...
*revives topic*
I thought it'd be nice to bring the question up again, since new members have come since last spring.
Being Danish I don't get the chance to meet most of the authors I read. I have met a few Danish authors, though:
Lars-Henrik Olsen whose series about the Norse Gods was quite...
The only thing I can think that's funny and takes place in space is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. And one of the characters in it is indeed a liar - or perhaps braggart is closer to describing him.
Perhaps that's the one?
I keep hearing the terms paperback and mass market paperback. And on Amazon the two are sometimes two different editions in the cases of certain books. What *is* the difference? I sure haven't figured it out yet.
If paperbacks are intended for the more trivia-consuming audience then I wonder...
My pen is busy scribbling down authors and titles on my TBP and TBR lists... ohhh, Paycheck arrived today and it was much bigger than expected so I will allow for some purchases... you guys have just provided some items there. Thanks.
I disagreed with Bloom as en elf for once reason. He's too young to have the 'presence' of a 3000 year old elf. You may argue that no human can ever have that, but I think Hugo Weaving did a pretty fine job of Elrond, he had the presence, the charisma that made me believe that this dude was 7000...
I have Erikson's Gardens and Martin's Thrones lying around, but except for Wurts and Miéville I haven't even heard of the others. Access to fantasy books is crappy here in DK, it's nigh impossible to find anything really good on our shelves, so I buy what I want on Amazon and eBay but there you...
Fact is, however, even within the genre Salvatore writes in he's not the greatest author. Like most of the other FR authors he has simple plotlines - much simpler than many other fantasy authors, he has flat characters - even flatter than those of many other authors.
Sometimes the people who...
It's been snowing almost non-stop for 3 days now. So we have nice layer of snow outside, it's great; brightens up the otherwise grey and dark winter = good :)
Yeah, at my 18th birthday (I think that was it) my folks gave me a 'voucher' for an amount of money they'd pitch in with when I had to buy a bed when moving out. I didn't 'cash' it till 2½ years later when I actually moved out, but it was a real nice present since it gave me something I actually...
Sounds like some of the files might be damaged, or the folder itself. Do you still have tile files where you transferred them from? If so I'd say you should delete the erroneous folder and try and transfer them again in smaller groups, mainly because the chances that something corrupts files...
Oh trust me, the sceptic in me wants to disregard all of the incidents as mere coincidence. But the weird thing is, I never remember my dreams, not even if I've had nightmares, heck, at times people tell me I've been very noisy at night and I clearly had a nightmare, but I won't even wake up...
