Has a crime been commited here?

I don't believe a internet forum can be held accountable like that, unless the members in question were situated in a state where it's illegal to not try and prevent a suicide (if there is such a thing). Last I heard it wasn't illegal to talk about things - including suicide. Heck I've had...

    Edward Rutherfurd

I'm currently reading Dublin: Foundation - and I am SO looking forward to the next in the series. I've sniffed at London, but since my mum only has it in Danish I didn't want to borrow it, I'd rather read it in English :p I absolutely love Rutherfurd's language, it's hauntingly beautiful. The...

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

Finally someone else pointed out what I've said twice already. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this. One single family is hardly a cause for concern. Yes I know of a family in a rural district here in DK where the girl through whom I know them has 10 or 12 siblings (I forget) and both...

    Russian Roulette

Nonsense, no drinks needed. All that blood washes down the violence quite easily :D

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

Not as far as I know. In DK the procedure around births is this. Since you can be sure that the woman who gave birth to the child is the mother that is the only fact anyone calculates with at the very beginning. So when a woman comes to the hospital to give birth and does so, it is then her duty...

    Russian Roulette

I've played that game way too much now. I've died way too many times for comfort, the gimp has suffered horrible death and my gleeful laugh way too many times to let anyone believe I'm still sane... And just for the record: I'm a girl :p

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

The father's rights regarding abortion in DK are non-existant to my knowledge. If the mother comes in alone she's alone about it, if her man is with her at the clinic he'll be there in the counselling if the couple so desires. But nowhere does he have any legal rights regarding an unborn child...

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

How old is the daughter? If 13, yes the parent should be told, by the teacher when first the girl came to her. If 17, no, not in my opinion, but then again, I'm used to an age of consent at 15. I'd like to know what the mother would do with information though. I can understand why she'd be...

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

If we had let nature take its course in those contries to begin with they wouldn't be so badly off as they are. I dunno how statistics look in the US, but in most of Europe the population growth is disappearing. As I said, every couple needs to have 2.3 kids to keep the population stagnant -...

    Jane Austen: Pride And Prejudice

That depends entirely on the reader. I was 14 when I read it the first time, perhaps 15. I enjoyed it immensely. Heck, I even read it in English(not my native lang.) back then.

    John Fowles Dies: Aged 79

And he dies during the two weeks we're spending on The French Lieutenant's Woman in Lit class. How eerie. I'll second that. RIP

    Jane Austen: Pride And Prejudice

Mmmmm Pride and Prejudice. My first brish with it was the BBC series with Colin Firth as Darcy. I loved the story, the everything, so I read the book and loved that too. I love Austen's subtlety, she has this way of saying so much by saying nigh nothing. I've read my mum's old battered volume...

    Russian Roulette

Okay, so I played again, and first game, first shot, gimp dies... I played quite a bit earlier but he just wouldn't bit the big one and now he does so in the first try.... how utterly provocative :p

    Russian Roulette

No kidding... I've been waiting for that gimp to die.... and he just doesn't. ARGH!

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

Here in DK the pregnant kid can keep an abortion a secret if they're not minors... however, our age of consent is at 15 and that changes the picture a great deal. If they're under 15 the doc is law-bound to inform the parents, though not necessarily before the abortion has occured - that one's...

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

In other words, minors can no longer get abortions without their folks being notified? Is that correctly understood or am I missing something?

"Mom delivers 16th child" - Is there something wrong with this?

I can only agree with those who say that birth control measures should be readily available - and this includes doctors and other people who know what they're talking about to seek advice from. However, I see more and more, both in the US and in many Southern Europena countries that birth...

    The Child in Us

One of my professors at uni has a strong interest in Walt Disney and his creations. So strong that he actually puts together lectures on the very same Walt Disney... I mean, that's taking childhood to a whole new level. It's awesome. The professor is a great teacher too because he at times shows...

    Literature as a Pleasure Read?

Ehhhh mature? Heehee... I read both classic lit and trivia lit (both are in fact literature) I enjoy teh classic s a lot because they actually keep my brain in shape (as if I didn't get enough of that at uni) and I enjoy employing some thinking in order to understand a book. However sometimes I...
