    Jeanette Winterson: Sexing the Cherry

I hated this book when I first picked it up. Seriously--it took all I could muster to give it a thorough chance and not just put it aside for another book. I now count it among my favorites. By the end, I was enthralled. I don't know how Winterson succeeded in winning me over, but she...

    Real Crime

I would argue that In Cold Blood is still a must-read, whether you liked it or not. Without Truman Capote, the genre would never have been created. That fact alone makes it a book that should be read by anyone interested in true crime.

    A.J. Jacobs: The Know-It-All

Wonderful book. I was skeptical because the Encyclopedia is not all that interesting, but Jacobs made it come to life. I still remember some of the funny tidbits and it's been months since I read the book. One note though--this thread should actually be in the non-fiction section. Maybe a...

October 2008: F Scot Fitzgerald: Tender Is The Night

I'm excited for someone to get the ball rolling on this one. I read it last year and really enjoyed it, so I'd love to hear other viewpoints. I don't think it's fresh enough in my mind for me to start.
