I'm just finishing my first James Patterson book, 1st to Die, the first in the Women's Murder Club series. I watched the 1st episode of the TV show so decided to try the books. This is a great book! I can't wait to read the others.
I saw it this afternoon and I thought it was very good. I think I'll watch the original again now. I hope I can get motivated to finish reading the book about Elizabeth I've been working on but I got side-tracked and can't seem to get back to it.
I'm amazed at the number of books some (most) of you read. Have you all had speed reading courses? Or do you read every spare minute of the day? This computer takes up a lot of my time and after working 8-9 hours a day, I can't seem to find time to read very much.
I love spending time in the library, just being in the presence of so many books, but I don't like feeling pressured to finish them by a certain date, so I mostly check out travel books or other reference types, and read some magazines I wouldn't normally buy.
I heard this morning on XM radio that when kids are forced to read books like The Scarlet Letter and Moby Dick in school, it turns them off to reading and that schools need to revise their reading lists. I did read a lot of the classics, but never read either one of those, so I can't comment on...
Prairie Home Companion on HBO. I had been told it was not good but I liked it. I was very surprised at what a good singer Meryl Streep is. I ordered the soundtrack after watching the movie.
We only have a Books A Million, which doesn't have the atmosphere of a B&N or Borders, but it's better than nothing. I like to go to the library sometimes and browse, but I really like to own my books and I don't like to be on a time table to finish a book.
I loved Nancy Drew and recently found a box of them that I had put away. As soon as I finish Water for Elephants I am planning to read some of them and see if I still like them as an adult. I don't think I'm interested in seeing the new Nancy Drew movie.
