I just started....
to read "Downsize This" by Michael Moore, after i recently finished "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens and "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare.
The last books i bought are:
Walden; Or Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau
Walking by Henry David Thoreau
Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman
**** Machine by Charles Bukowski
Where are you from? (Country, state, city...)
I'm from Vienna, Austria in Europe
How old are you and what is your gender?
I'm 20 years old and i'm male, but i guess my name already leads to this conclusion ;)
What are your hobbies (Other than reading books)?
Writing. I write really a...
Gary Snyder and Herman Hesse
As for poetry and essays, i would suggest:
GARY SNYDER:
He is such a terrible overlooked poet that i just HAD to recommend him. At least i have the feeling that he isn't recognized as much as some other poets! His essays are also wonderful and extremely relevant...
Hm, so far i have only read one book by him, "Slaughterhouse 5", and it's among my favorite books. But at the moment i still have a huge pile of books to read, but i'll definitely read more from Vonnegut sooner or later!
I don't really have such a rule. Sometimes i read the book first, sometimes i see the movie first. Usually it doesn't matter for the quality of the book or movie.
Since i can't limit it......
to just one author, i'll give you a list of my favorite authors:
Gary Snyder
Jack Kerouac
Charles Bukowski
Philip K. Dick
Herman Hesse
James Joyce
Douglas Adams
Joseph Conrad
Kurt Vonnegut
I guess that's it, but i also guess that i forgot to name a few...
"The Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac
"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick
"1984" by George Orwell
"On the Road" by Jack Kerouac
so far, anything i have read by Charles Bukowski
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams
"Der Steppenwolf" by Herman Hesse...
just 5 are too diffiult
;)
so i'll just post my favorite books in no particular order:
"The Dharma Bums" - Jack Kerouac
"Turtle Island" - Gary Snyder (well it's a collection of poems and essays)
"Der Steppenwolf" - Herman Hesse
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - Douglas Adams...
