The thing is, I didn't want to get this audio book. I made a mistake while ordering books at the library, but I thought to myself that I could at least give it a try. I always thought I wouldn't like audio books..
But it is quite a difference to 'The hunchback of Notre-Dame', which I read in...
Currently Reading 'Die Glut' by the Hungarian writer Sándor Márai, English title is 'Embers'.
I really like it. It's about the relationship between two old men who haven't seen each other for 41 years, when one of them fled after some incident. I'm more than halfway through and still have no...
How do you like it? I haven't heard anything about it yet, so I'm very unsure whether to buy it or not...
I'm currently reading 'Bittersüße Schokolade' (Like Water for Choclate) by Laura Esquivel. I haven't progresses all too far, but up to now I like it. The book moves on in twelve...
If you liked that book, RitalinKid, maybe you should have a look at 'Fateless' by Imre Kertész. The author, who himself has spent a year in Auschwitz, tells the story of a young Hungarian Jew, who is broght to Buchenwald and Auschwitz, too.
Especially the ending is very memorable, for the story...
'Fool on the Hill' by Matt Ruff features some cats and dogs, too.. and a lot of other cool characters. Really fun to read!
What about Terry Pratchett? I liked 'The amazing Maurice and his educated Rodents' quite a lot, although I'm usually not a fan of him.
I'd definitely second Watership...
I always thought I wouldn't enjoy books on CD but to my surprise I like them quite a lot. Due to some mistake I ordered 'Les Miserables' by Victor Hugo as a book on CD from the library. Now, having these 10CDs (abriged! unabriged would be 1 DVD/44CDs) lying around, I thought that I could at...
I can't wait until it is released here in May! I recorded the 'Black Horse and Cherry Tree' video on VH1 some weeks ago and haven't stopped listening to it since.
Currently listening: Veda Hille - 26 Years
I love the library in my town!
Actually, the employees know me all by name.
It's pretty small, but they can get me nearly everything I want: books, cds, dvds. :)
I just love to go in there, have a little chat, walk along the shelves and pick up some books, sit down and read a chapter or...

Everything looks so peaceful now.. as long as my siblings don't rush into the picture throwing snow balls.
Maybe I'll take my camera and make some pictures, too.
Here we had no school yesterday and today because of the bad weather..
Yes, but the shipping is very expensive. (13,00€ + 2,50€ each book) It would be cheaper to ask some relatives to send it to you. The 'Deutsche Post' offers so-called 'Büchersendungen', which is an easy and cheap way to send books. (A book 500-750g will cost 3,50€)
Hihi, honeydevil. I haven't read most of them myself, I must confess. ;)
I grew up with Astrid Lindgren & Enid Blyton.
But those well-known books might be the easiest to get if you're not living in Germany. Besides, there might probably be a good english translation for those..
Maybe...
Wow, these are really tough, especially Faust, which is even for me hard to get through..
Some well-known children's books are for example:
Michael Ende:
'Die unendliche Geschichte'
'Momo'
'Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer'
Erich Kästner:
'Emil und die Detektive'
'Das...
I loved 'The Shadow of the Wind', too. I read it last year. For me it was one of those books you pick up and can't turn down until you're finished. Although I liked the first half of the book better than the second..
I just started a book by Italo Calvino. The german title is: Die...
Just a minor mistake:
Ich spreche Deutsch.
For me, the lessons I take in school are the best way to learn a language. I'm just not disciplined enough to work with book or CD language courses.
As Phedre already mentioned, you could start reading some children's books as soons as you...
I'm reading 'Blindness', too. I was slightly afraid of it due to everything I heard about it like the lack of punctuation (cajunmama already mentioned it... ), but after a few pages you get used to the style. I'm throughoutly enjoying this book so far.
