That's uncanny, Forest Elf. We are both writing books for the younger generation that are set in a forest and we are both having our books released next month. (My books are for the much younger though, (8-12 year olds).
I had a look at your site. I like your usage of the Forest scenery...

Eventually, the morning of the feast arrived. Jumpster’s family gathered outside to farewell him from Hopper’s burrow. Mr Hopper was beaming with pride for Jumpster. Mrs Hopper, while also proud, softly shed a few tears, as she knew there would be dangers along the way for her son...
Hi reedwood,
Welcome to B&R. I've enjoyed a great deal of children's books throughout my time. Enid Blyton was a favourite author of mine growing up. I now write adventure gamebooks for kids. I figure I'm doing well enough since my eldest child loves them.
Enjoy your stay!
Jasan
Hello and welcome Mariposa. I was a big fan of Enid Blyton when I was a child too. Which of her series did you like the best? (I liked the Famous Five, Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair series the best)
Jasan
Ah yes, my biggest problem in writing to the pre-teen market is using words that are too big. I usually do my best when writing for teens.
Thanks Rustynath
P.S. The story is longer, but that will be released after I write Part Two of this adventure. At the moment I have taken a break...
This is the first two pages of my new children's adventure gamebook. To read the story in its entirety, you can click on the link in my signature.

Hi Kendall,
I noticed this old thread and was interested in seeing how everything went with your children's book, more than one year on from the posting of this thread. Did you get the story finished? If so, how did you go with submitting it to agents/publishers? As a soon-to-be published...
Hi,
I'm an about-to-be-published author (children's gamebooks) and am going through the process of promoting my book before it is released (blog site, announcement emails to interested readers, joining various reading and writing forums etc). One of my promotion tactics that I chose to employ...
With some of the current discussion focused on Enid Blyton, I thought I'd put this question to the forum. Of the faraway tree stories, which adventure did you enjoy the most. (I don't mean which book but which story within one of the three books - (Enchanted Wood, Magic Faraway Tree, Folk of...
I remember enjoying the Sea of Adventure, with all those Puffins on the Island.
Dame Slap was the headmistress of a school that was extremely strict and she was very quick to deal out Corporal punishment to any misbehaving student (whether it was justified or not) (that's my memory of it anyway).
Targeted at 8-12 y.o
“Okay girl, let’s go,” you whisper to your falcon, Huntress. You emit her learned ‘take-off-and-hunt’ whistle, gently thrust your arm skyward and she complies. She soars into the air and begins to circle the lake, her sharp eyes scanning the clear water for a quarry...
I'm definitely not a 'read the last sentence' kind of reader. Then I'll look at the second last sentence and the third last (Doh! I've ruined the ending).
Quality. As I am an author as well you need to read to see what's out there (and also what's not, looking for market gaps can give you an idea about what to write, provided there are readers interested in the particular market)
Hi Gerald,
Welcome to Book & Reader. I am about to become a published author later this year (not self-published). I have found the whole process to be a great adventure (getting published that is) and have found that it tests your patience too. I write adventure gamebooks for tweens...
To those of you who remember the Choose Your Own Adventure book series, what was your favourite story?
I'll nominate three (no surprise, all written by Edward Packard, IMO the best of the CYOA writers by far)
1) Who killed Harlowe Thrombey (A great whodunnit where you had to solve the...
