I honestly almost always judge books by their covers. If they have a lame cover, they probably have a lame publishing company, and if they have a lame pub. company, it probably isn't an extremely good book. I know it's terrible of me, and I'm probably missing out on books that I would...
I'm actually just getting to the end of Kushiel's Dart and so far it's been pretty good, but I can see your point in that it could have been cut down considerably without losing much as far as the story goes. But I've found that most anything Tor FantasyÓ publishes tends to be worth a read. I...
Skinny Dip
I just recently finished Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen, and I thought it was excellent. Not exactly up there with Shakespeare and Dickens, but it was a fun read, and that's always nice to find. Very enjoyable. Your thoughts?
I saw the American one. It actually kind of scared me, but considering the fact that I scare pretty easily and that I watched it Halloween night at around 2 A.M., that makes sense. I enjoyed it.
I agree with you completely Jenem, about "From the Dust Returned". I read it...oh geez, probably 5 or 6 months ago. I've just recently finished Girl With a Pearl Earring, which I vaugely remember someone mentioning last week or so, but I can't remember who it was or what they said about it. I...
Stardust is definetely good, but I'd have to say go with the Sevenwaters trilogy first. They are honestly some of the best books I have ever read. Also, try the Rhapsody trilogy by Elizabeth Haydon.
This morning, watching a friend of mine flirt with the guy I like even though she knows I like him. I'm too nice for my own good, and I just put up with it and smile (but I DEFINITELY don't mean it).
When did you last...have deja vu?
I read a lot of the books I read as a kid again, because now I can understand them so much more. A lot of them I'm really dissapointed in because I had this fantastical view when I read them all those years ago. Some of them I understood really well though, when I didn't back then. Take for...
This isn't really an answer to your question, because when I read The House on Mango Street, I didn't care much for it, and therefore didn't read into what Ms. Cisneros was saying. This message is more about a short story that she wrote that I absolutely LOVE. Please read: Eleven
I like it very simple. I'm not one much for sandwiches, but I really only ever have three kinds, and I like all of them. I like very thinly sliced ham on white bread, just peanut butter on white bread, and I can't forget grilled cheese. I really like cheese.
