I drive a 2006 Toyota Matrix (I call it Trinity ;))...I miss the old RAV-4s! Like the 2003 pictured above. :) The new ones are too big for my taste! How upsetting when they made 'em bigger.

I have a few bookmarks I bought as souveniers (why can't I spell that?) in various places. My favorite is one I bought from the gift shop at the New Globe theater in London. It's a quote from Hamlet: "What do you read, my lord?" "Words, words, words." :) Then I also have this odd assortment of...
In a 2-3 hour sitting, I'd say I can read anywhere from 150-200 pages, depending on the novel. And my pre-test wpm was 302 wpm, and my post-test was 338 wpm. That was a cool lil demo test - thanks for sharing!

great movie, I grew up w/ it and still love it. it's almost all jim henson creatures, w/ a young jennifer connolley and david bowie - great stuff, haha I love it and still sing the songs from it sometimes.

I should be typing up this brochure-booklet-type-thing I'm making for my final project in my Children's Lit class (in my Library and Info Science Masters program)...it's a collection of novels for children that deal with loss and healing. The collection of books I came up with is awesome, I just...
Check out the books on ALA's list of most challenged books of 1990-2000 - many are children's books (since it is parents doing the challenging, mostly), but some of these books are amazing and changed my life, and I still go back and reread 'em. It's worth a look, if you're interested in...
It's always fun to find good books for cheap and in decent condition...a few of the libraries in my county system are having spring book sales to get rid of their discarded books...I am tempted to go see what they are selling. Only problem is, I have no room for more books!! Oh the woes of being...
im mildly surprised i didn't score a bit higher in the "geek" department though haha...probably because i answered "no" to "have you ever been to a fan convention?" :p
anyway, fun test! and meticulously put together, as far as online quizzes go - thanks for sharing!
yick, the cheese is my least favorite part I think...I used to scrape everything off and eat just the bread-crust - moist under the toppings and crusty over on the edge...mmmmm.
When I was little, I was unfairly tricked into thinking all red sauce was spicy, and I don't like anything spicy, so...
I had pizza earlier tonight...my thing is, I like the crust, but more importantly I like the bubbles in the crust that often have sauce and cheese still on 'em...mmm that's the tastiest part to me, and that's at the end of the eating experience.

^^^This. is. so. awesome.
I'll make this a haiku too --
Wow -- look at me go!
hehe :) I promise I'm not mocking the haiku form...I just have the rhythm of 5-7-5 ingrained in me like a song from when I learned about haikus in grade school and we had to try to write 'em, so it's fun every once in...
I was an English major in undergrad, and in my experience Wuthering Heights, The Scarlet Letter, and Great Expectations I'd put on the must-read list for literature-minded folk. From high school: Of Mice and Men, Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice I'd also add. I came across Heart of Darkness...
I should be listening to my professor...we're having class in a computer lab, I'm on my laptop and it's facing away from the professor...she is unfortunately boring and I just handed in a 30-page project today. I've earned a break. :)

Mercedes Lackey has a huge series of books that take place in Valdemar (her created world), and one of the trilogies is Owlsight, Owlknight and Owlflight....it sounds similar to what you've described. I highly recommend the Valdemar books, by the way. :)

If you are also into plays, look at Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman...although it is not the same as seeing the play performed, the words and stories that make up the script are a work of art unto itself. I highly recommend it if you're interested in Greek mythology and retellings of Greek...
The first memory I have of reading a book is waiting outside the main office on the first day of first grade, because I went to the wrong classroom and they had to find out which class I was in...the book was James and the Giant Peach. And I remember not understanding every 5th word or so, but...
I read at least once a day...even if I am falling asleep on my feet, I "make" myself read at least one chapter from my current book - I put "make" in quotes because as soon as I get a few words in, I forget my fatigue usually and am completely absorbed...which can be dangerous when I emerge an...
