Which books did you read in March?

Wow, I'm impressed! You were pretty busy! :) I'm in a really long hold queue at the library (300+, lol) for Three Cups of Tea -- what did you think of it?

Which books did you read in March?

It was 8 stories, mostly completely independent but the last 2 or 3 tied together. Don't know if you've read other things by Lahiri, but they're very similar -- stories of 2nd or 3rd generation American immigrant families with Bengali roots (India). Stories about complex relationships between...

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

I was pleasantly surprised by it. Sue Miller was unknown to me before then and I felt the need to go look up other books by her after I read it. I can't remember exactly what I might have rated it but I do remember liking it more than I expected to.

    Do you remember...?

My fourth-grade teacher read "The Long Winter" to us, and somehow inserted her commentary wherever it made sense. When Laura tells her mom that she doesn't want the last biscuit because she's not hungry, even though she hasn't had anything to eat all day, my teacher told us "That's a sign of...

    Generation of readers

Reading preferences vary in my family somewhat, but more by personality than age. My mom seeks out best-selling mysteries and thrillers a la Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman, Patricia Cornwell, Robin Cook, etc. My dad reads similar things, but I think he also really likes Dick Francis...

Where are you? (in the book you are reading) - please read 1st post

I'm in remote northern Wisconsin on my parents' farm, mourning the sudden death of my father and trying to take on too many responsibilities in his wake.

    The demise of Borders bookstore

Does anyone remember Media Play? We used to have that chain up in the Niagara Falls, NY area. It was essentially a book/ CD/ movie store. When I was a kid, they had a good selection of books, but they gradually reduced their book selection to the absolute bare minimum in favor of increasing its...

I just wondered because I know plenty of Americans who have threatened to move to Canada, but none that had actually done it ;)

    What College Students are Reading

When I was in college (and graduate school, too), I spent so much time reading textbooks and articles from psychology journals that reading literature became a luxury that I didn't have the mental energy for. I'm absolutely a bookworm and have done nothing but read since I defended my master's...

Do men and women read books differently?

I can't remember the last time I bought more than 3 at once, but then again, I've only just recently finished up my degrees so I haven't had much wiggle room financially for a while. Now that I have a real paycheck, maybe I'll start buying books more :)
