    Worst or most disappointing book?

I think all of those issues are interesting, relevant and implied in the thread. I'm not looking for a "banal list". I usually tack a "why?" onto my questions, but I look back now after your comments and see that I didn't. It doesn't seem that I can edit my posting, otherwise I'd add a "why?" to...

    Books you didn't finish

Hi Felicia, Welcome. It's a really great group of people here. A lot of good insights and book recommendations. I'm curious about your affinity for Anne Rice. What do you find to be worth the perserverance in her books? I enjoyed Interview, but found Armand very difficult to get into.

    Best device for audiobooks?

I have a Phillips GoGear 2GB mp3 player. It has enough space to hold more music than I could listen to in a day and a medium sized (11 disc) audiobook. Of course, if I wanted to put a larger book in, I could just delete some of the music. I don't know. But I think that if you stick with a...

Books you never expected to like

What book were you reluctant to read, but ended up loving? What preconceptions made you reluctant to pick it up? What surprised you and why did you end up liking it so much?

    Too many Characters?

It also depends on how well the author differentiates between main characters and secondary characters.

    Fiction you warn people against?

When I write reviews, I usually try never to say: "Don't read this" but I'm always candid about why I don't like a particular book.

    Books you didn't finish

If you're that close to done, Fantasy Moon, why don't you just skim the last pages?

    Books you didn't finish

I'm quite a Kay fan, but when I went back to read these, I didn't have a lot of success. I got introduced to him by his later stuff, and wanted to read more of that, rather than high fantasy.

    Favorite book to recommend

To fantasy fans who haven't read it, GRRM's Song of Ice and Fire. If they have read it, then R. Scott Bakker's Prince of Nothing, or Matt Stover's Blade of Tyshalle And I would recommend anything by Guy Gavriel Kay to anybody.

    Too many Characters?

Many fantasy novels, such as GRRM's SoIaF, come with an appendix that lists all the characters.

    Too many Characters?

A good guide to Russian names. They are tough for Anglophone readers to understand - without taking a couple years of college Russian, that is. I'll contribute a couple additions: Patronymics can be used in combination with the first name (Ivan Ivanovich) as a sort of "affectionate...
