    Long novels or short novels?

I generally prefer shorter books, meaning 500 pages or under. This is because I read a lot of fantasy, and thus 500 is something of a minimum.

    What books have you hated?

I'm not a fan of verbose descriptions myself

    First book you ever read?

I remember reading the Ramona books as well. From what I recall, the title was apt. They were fairly annoying.

    Long novels or short novels?

I asked a question a few months back as to whether people preferred novels or short stories. Most opted for novels. My question now is whether you prefer a brief few hundred pages, written with elegant economy, or an epic tome that becomes something of a lifestyle?

    What books have you hated?

I don't read much mystery, but I do read a lot of fantasy. And I thought fantasy had a lot of repetative conventions. But when I tried reading some romance, I was shocked. At least in fantasy, some books use certain genre conventions, other books use a different mix of genre conventions, but the...

    Favorite new authors

One of my favorite new authors is Jennifer Fallon. Her Lion of Senet is one of the best new fantasy books in recent years.

    Audio books.

I listen to any audiobook I can get my hands on.

    What books have you hated?

I've read many fantasy novels. And they are not anywhere NEAR as formulaic as romance.

Did you ever throw a book across the room?

That's why I like the library. Return them when I'm done. Don't have to see them again if I don't like them

    Book Covers

I think that back cover reviews are sometimes helpful, but when they're by an author that you know and like - which means that the book is probably supposed to be a similar kind of story.

    What should we do next?

By way of update: "Science Fiction Films" is leading, but only by a couple votes.

Did you ever throw a book across the room?

I think my AP English Class felt similarly about Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce.

    Book Covers

In general, do people prefer covers with pictures of the characters? Or would you rather imagine the characters as you see them, and not have a picture provided for you?

    What books have you hated?

Well, the trick with romance genre novels is that they follow the formula. I have never read ANYTHING so formulaic as romance novels. They're all exactly the same story.

If you were a writer, what genre would you write?

I, personally, would class Guy Gavriel Kay as literary fantasy.

    First book you ever read?

Judy Blume, that's right. It was just on the tip of my tongue, but I simply couldn't remember. Thanks.

    Book Covers

I also don't take book covers into account when picking up a book. I get most from the library, and choose them based on online recommendations.

Did you ever throw a book across the room?

I never got through Outlander. Would you recommend that I make an attempt to continue?

    First book you ever read?

I think I recall reading that in school. Who is the author, again?
