I just finished this book tonight. It's one of those books that once read, you are really glad you did. The first few pages were a bit confusing to get used to how he writes, but once you get into the "groove" it's a refreshing way in which to read. Interestingly, this book is narrated by...
Hmmm . . . perhaps I should do some more research on this. Glad to know that I wasn't the only one who had no idea that it paralled the book. I enjoyed it for face value. Loved the ending. I won't give it away. Perfect though.
I finished reading this book yesterday. I must admit that it took me a very, very long time to read (at least a month) because I hit a lull about 1/2 way through. Once over that hump I couldn't put it down and finished it very quickly.
It was beautiful storytelling and I too now want to...

What are some great holiday themed stories? I'd like to broaden my holiday library and collect more books we can read together as a family this time of year.
Of course, there is The Polar Express, 'Twis the Night Before Christmas, etc. I'm right in the middle of The Christmas Box by...
Both. I go to the library about three times a week for storytime for my two small children. I am always at my checkout limit (which is 30) and then start using my husband's library card also. I love the library for children's books (to pre-test them to make sure my kids like them before I...
Do you have any Christmas traditions this time of year that revolve around books? What are they and why?
For example, a Christmas tradition that was in my home growing up and one that I have continued in my own home is that of the Christmas Mouse.
My Mom created this tradition on...
I believe that each parent knows their own child individually and what their child can handle and what they can't handle. What may be appropriate for one child, may not be appropriate for another. The imagination can be a well, for lack of a better word, very imaginative. I do believe that...
I actually kept track of how many I read in the last six months and it was 32. So I guess double that and I read about 60 a year. For the new year, I'm implenting what I call 52 in 52, meaning 52 books in 52 weeks. We'll see how I do.
Welcome. I know what you mean about loving to buy books. I just can't help myself. I love to look at all of them on my bookshelf, gives me a feeling of satisfaction. I have more books to read than I have time although I'm always reading!
Maybe I just don't read deep enough into some books, but I need some enlightenment from those who have read Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.
A book club question in the book is: Sara Gruen has said that the "backbone" of her novel "parallels the biblical story of Jacob," in the book of...
Edward or Jacob?
Everybody I knew was reading this series, so I was curious and read Twilight, but I just didn't get it. What was all the hype? I perserved and read New Moon and it just got better. Maybe because I wasn't into Edwards character, and after all he is the main love interest...
My name is Natasha, I'm excited to find this forum. I love to read and I love to own books. I keep on buying more than I can read.
I'm currently reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
The books I've read in the last six months are (only reason I can remember is because I had...
