    Alexandre Dumas: The Three Musketeers

I think it was because " Iron Mask" made too much about them growing old. It depressed it to the point where it was tedious to read about them. It would no doubt have been best to leave off at the first book, when they were still likeable.

    Alexandre Dumas: The Three Musketeers

An excellent book. I've read it three or four times, in different editions. I didn't really like the ''Man in the Iron Mask'' though. I was excited about reading it, but it let me down. Course, " Count of Monte Cristo" is my favorite Dumas book. ( Oh, and the movie verion of Three...

How Many Books Do You Read in a Year (approx.)?

My guess would be that as long as you hear the whole un-abridged book, then it counts. :) My family is big on reading books aloud. We'll take turns, one person reads while everyone else crochets or cooks, or plays video games-whatever. If audio books wouldn't count, then all those books...

    The Evil "Wish" Game

Granted. But you can't stop speaking and end up embarrassing yourself. I wish I had a lifetime supply of Pepsi.

    The Evil "Wish" Game

Granted, but you are deathly allergic to dragon scales. I wish I had a better memory.

How many books do you buy in a month?

Anywhere from two to thirty, depending on how often I can find interesting books at secondhand book stores and thrift stores. Brand new books, it might only be one every other month or so.

    Your age

19, I believe. I bought books one through four at the same time, and read them straight through. I was 23 when I read book six..and am 24, waiting for book seven. I think they have stuff that's suitable and entertaining for all reading levels, although some of the stuff in book six was a bit...

Harry Potter Seventh Book Pre-Sales Speculations and Discussions

I think it will probably be Voldemort, because she has a habit of doing the obvious. She may take out a few well-liked characters, just to show how serious the war is. McGonagall, most likely, because she promotes her younger characters as better/more deserving that the older ones. A few lesser...

Do you like to read with background noise, or need complete silence?

Eihter way. Television, radio, talking...it doesn't bother me. If the book is light enough, I can keep up a conversation as well. I dunno, I guess if I can't get interested ina book eough to concentrate on it, then it must not be very good.

How possessive are you about your books?

Hmmm...well I am not overly possessive I guess. I like books to have a worn/loved/read look to them, so I don't impsoe rules like not bending the spines. I like people to see that the books are being appreciated. I lend to my mother, father and sisters, and sometimes my grandmother, if I have...

    remember your first chapter book?

It had to be the Laura Ingles Wilder set at age six/seven. That same year I read all the Beverly Cleary, all the Nancy Drew, a bunch of Apple paperbacks geared toward that age group; ( Boys are Yucko springs to mind,) Judy Blume and a lot of animal books. My first 'grown up' chapter novel was...

    Hard.

The hardest boon to read through was " Portrait of a Lady". I usually love that style and era, but gee whiz it dragged.

    Silly Me!

I'm very new here too, but I'll welcome you! From your profile you sound pretty interesting. I also crochet, and would make jelly and cheese...if I had the time and equipment. I always thought it looked fun. Anyway, hope you like this place as much as I! :)

    Hello everyone.

I think it was in 1989. It could have been 90. My family was living in Oregon at the time, but we were in the process of moving back here, and it involved a couple of road trips. I seriously wanted to stay, but it was just my mother and I traveling alone at night, and she wasn't too keen on the...

    Hello everyone.

There was a tornado the day I went through Wichita... We can see them coming here too. I used to live in the hilly part of OK right on the Arkansas border. The only difference was, we couldn't see the tornados coming. It was always a sneak attack. :)

What will put you off a book?

The main character. I am very particular about characters, and the way they behave. If the main character is rotten, I'll like the book less, and usually look to a second or third character, even a villain, for the story's redemption, and revival of my interest. I hate to pick up a good...
