Re-reading-to do it, or not to do it

Of course I re-read books! I always notice something new, and I love the familiar feelings my favorite books give me. Books and pizza...the most comforting things in the world to me!:p

What fiction book do you keep reading over and over?

There are so many that I reread over and over again! So, here's a list: "The Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien...I read it at least once a year, sometimes more often. I have a one-volume edition that I like to use. All of Jane Austen's books, especially Pride and Prejudice. She remains one of...

    John Sandford

Does anyone here read anything by John Sandford, either his Prey series, or his Kidd series?

Can anyone compile a small list of classics that every reader should read?

What is your favorite non-fiction genre?

That's a difficult question. I like history books, mostly about the history of England and Ireland. I like books about fairies, especially by Brian Froud or Pierre Dubois. I also love decorating books and biographies. One non-fiction that I read about twice a year is "Better Than Beauty: A...

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Children Of Hurin

I also recently finished The Children of Hurin. Having read both The Silmarillion and unfinished Tales, I already knew Turin's story pretty well. But, the book was very well thought out, and being in the form of a novel made the story more cohesive. I was only diappointed that there was no...

    Books you didn't finish

My 12th grade Humanities teacher asked everyone to read Sohpie's World during the summer before the school year started. I bought it and tried, but couldn't get beyond Plato. Now, flash forward ten years, and I've read it three times! When you get further in, you realize how amazing the story...

The Most overrated fiction book ever?

I just want to say Thank You! I just found this board today, and I was starting to regret joining when I saw the violent hatred thrown at one of my all-time favorite books! I'm not an avid reader of fantasy, I prefer 19th century English, or modern horror or suspense. But The Lord of the Rings...

The last sentence in the book you're currently reading.

Warning: Possible Spoiler...Too late for me, though! "The boat reappeared, but brother and sister had gone down in an embrace never to be parted, living through again in one supreme moment the days when they had clasped their little hands in love and roamed the daisied fields together." The...

Who is your favorite fictional character and why?

Let's see..... Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice...she's exactly the kind of person I'd like to be! Becky Sharp from Vanity Fair...she's so deliciously selfish Sam Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings...he's the best friend anyone could want, and so much better written that Frodo...

    Late Night Reading

I've often stayed up until 5 or 6 in the morning (I often have insomnia) in order to finish a book. The last one was the very last book I finished: The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker. It bothered my boyfriend (who was trying to sleep), that I had to go downstairs and continue there...I...

Do you buy, borrow or take out from the library?

I always buy, though usually from a second-had store, but sometimes even from Borders. I always intend to either re-read every book I have or to give them away. I haven't used a library since high school!
