I bought Travel Scrabble this year, and it comes with a little booklet in which there is a list of 2-letter words. If I can find it, I will copy them out for you here, but it's too late in the day for me to do it right now; plus, my room is an absolute tip and I have no idea where it is. :D But...
Kumquats, well I remember having one when I was about 8. Before you ask, no, I didn't grow up in the tropics, unless you count the exotic fruits section of the Co-Op in Stoke-on-Trent. :D
Didn't have one after that until about 2 months ago. They're all right, but a little too weird for my liking.
Ahhhh I too love Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas. I can't drive, but it reminds me of going home for Christmas, of the way I feel, I just love it.
My all-time favourite though is probably The Pogues & Kirsty McColl's Fairytale Of New York. Used to hate it as a child, but I have grown...
Sci-Fi Not sure, quite possibly The Golden Apples of The Sun by Ray Bradbury. That is the title, isn't it? It's been a while...
Horror Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Managed to read it while my sister was reading it. She wasn't particularly pleased at that. :D
Fantasy Errrr not sure what...
I would say I write for myself, and most of the time, it stays that way with it being just me who reads them. (I write poetry btw.)
You could say, well, what's the point, and I'd agree with you to a certain extent, but I also write a diary and no bugger else is ever going to read that, so...
Agreed, it was brilliant! The film was great too but didn't do it justice.
Sorry, we'll get back on topic now. :D
Anyway, I don't think I've heard of Odd Thomas, maybe I ought to give Dean Koontz another crack of the whip and give the book a go.
I love The Hobbit, and I am sure many will slate me when I say that I preferred it to Lord Of The Rings. Maybe it's an attention-span thing but The Hobbit is rammed to the gills with action and adventure, but Lord Of The Rings bored me to tears in places.
As for the film version, I think it...
I used to read a lot of Dean Koontz, and I used to really enjoy it, but I got soooo sick of the formulaic writing. I loved his descriptions of stuff (Stephen King is also fab at describing stuff) but after a while the happy endings bored me - no matter what happened in the story you alway know...
I read The Stand earlier this year, the extended version, and I loved it. It was so involving and in-depth... I was totally engrossed in it. Also, the ideas, the thought of what the world/country would be live if something like that really happened - having to start everything from scratch...
I left Peter
Mumbling incoherent nothings
And trying to hug me
I would have loved him
But maybe another day
Instead I wandered home
In pouring rain, the night air
Warm with summer
And as Pilgrim Street
Became Northumberland
I saw not a soul adrift
In the empty town
Along Saville Row...
Which magazines do I read....
Empire (UK film mag)
Marie Claire
Heat (cheesy showbiz goss mag :D)
I have subscriptions to the first two.
If I'm Stateside I usually get US Cosmopolitan; I'm not keen on the UK version.
lmao, chickening out!!
Anyway I'm not North-East born & bred, I moved here a few years ago, so I have yet to build up a tough-as-old-boots attitude yet. :-P
Hello,
Well I was struggling to think of a good name for myself. :P
We studied Seamus Heaney in Sixth Form and I always liked his poem Anahorish and the way it's pronounced. From what I remember it means "place of clear water", but my memory is a little fuzzy so I could be wrong. Or my...
Hiya everyone,
Well I'm new here! Obviously. :P
I live in the North-East and I, er, like reading (of course), although not as often as I used to. Also enjoy travelling, writing poetry from time to time, going to gigs, the usual.
Not much else I can say really, except that I hope to...
I went to see this last week and I had heard a few dodgy reviews about it. I wasn't too bothered about that, cos I've read the books and know what to expect, but I did bear it in mind.
Anyway, I actually really enjoyed it, although it was nowt spectacular, and I probably wouldn't rush to see...
