Well, sometimes it's hard to argue with the almighty dollar. But I kind of see her side too, if I was a creator, I wouldn't want other people to make mockery of my creation with things that potentially would ruin my work. But yes, it is selfish.
by noted I meant dollar sales, which I guess your link explains it. Well I'm glad to say he's not getting my dollars. Libraries are such nice things to have when testing out authors I've never read before.
ha, I just joined this forum 3 days ago, so I'm new as well. But what I lack in length of membership I make up with long postings and rants:D
I hadn't read any Millhone books, but there are so many writers out there I often feel like I've been so limited in my reading. I try to go for the...
Well Orlando was in Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, and Elizabethtown. I think he needs to get away from the period movies. I like seeing him in a leg baring skirt as much as the next gal, but it's really limiting his roles. I absolutely dislike him in Troy, he was such a weasel but I guess that's...
Well I never filled in my profile, but your initial thought was right, I'm a girl. I just have this screen name bc it's my dog's name. If you read my other posts you'll know I refer to my husband as Mr. Spikey:D
No I hadn't read the Eleventh Commandment, but I'm going to look into it...
I saw Pulp Fiction, I didn't find Travolta that bad in it, he was more slimy than anything else. But it's a matter of opinion. I like my bad boys to be cover with tattoos and brimming with shirt ripping muscles (ahem Vin Diesel;) ).
No way can Stewart Townsend can pull of Aragon, heck even...
I agree Harrison is over used, and honestly I think there are better older actors out there (Pacino, De Niro, etc) than him. Christopher Walken has that weirdo thing that I like, but I somehow regard him as a knock off Pacino, does that make sense?
LOL at getting Ian McKellan while he's...
Here's a thought, Ginny Weasley? To teach Harry a lesson about pain of losing someone he loves and she's not a major character. By the way, I thought the romance thing between Ginny and Harry in the last book was pretty sloppily written.
Well the author talked about killing off Harry so other authors can't later write about him. So I wouldn't put it past her, it's kinda her way of permanently trademarking the franchise.
Did you know there are other HP books out there written by different authors? You can find them in...
Are we talking about the young Travolta or the old? The young version I can see, but the older version is lost on me. But I like my guys tall dark scruffy and oozing bad boy appeal, so Travolta won't make my list anyway. You know who is one hot older man? Al Pacino, he can light my fire any...
The definition of a great book is really based personal preference, same as movies. And since this thread is about what books people will think make good movies, I don't think it matters what my taste in books is. I happen to think any book that I enjoy and feel entertained is a great book...
I think Harry and Voldemort. Remember in one of the books she wrote those two lives are intertwined because of the spell Voldemort put on Harry, that one cannot live without the other but they can't live when the other one is alive either. The reason they've "coexisted" so far is because...
Well Stewie,
having read the book, I thought there would be too much detail behind everything for it to be a decent movie. People watching it will be completely lost because of the background information that's needed to understand the things happening. So I thought that was the one book...
Gee, I created a thread on the general discussion forum about the Stephanie Plum character casting before I found this one. Should have just waited:p
I think Sandra Bullock is perfect to play Stephanie, although not sure if she can do the Jersey thing convincingly. I think a blond Marissa...
My husband is a huge Neil Gaiman fan and he has every book by him. He especially liked American Gods. Mr. Spikey (that's what I call my husband on forums) insists I would like Neil Gaiman books and that I should give them a try. But I resisted so far, most likely he's right and I really hate...
Nothing brightens my mood more than a nice stay at a day spa or playing with puppies. If your friend is really into animals, she can spend a day doing volunteer work for the local SPCA, they have adoption days every weekend so she can help place the animals and play with them the whole day:)
Mattyj,
since there's talk about a movie being made for Stephanie Plum, who do you think would be good actors to play the characters? Here are my personal choices.
Stephanie - Sandra Bullock or Marissa Tomei. I think Sandra Bullock is born to play this part bc of her past movie roles...
In light of the recent Da Vinci Code movie (which I thought was a bad idea), which books do you think makes great movies? Personally I thought they should make Angels and Demonds into a movie instead of Da Vinci Code. There's just too much explaining necessary for Da Vinci Code to really have...
Well I'd be a liar if I were to say I'm a big fan of Shakespear and Mark Twain, I like the brain teasers fine but for fun reading I like humor and thrillers. I like my Dan Brown books, I find his writing style fascinating. He obviously did a lot of research on his subjects and I love how he...
