I recline on the couch, with a pillow on my tummy because I'm too lazy to hold the book up with my very own arms. The pillow also protects me from my cat, who likes to curl up on my stomach when I'm reclining. This wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have to knead me, first.

Thank you, mehastings, for the information:)
It's interesting, about the McEwan comments; I've read just two--Saturday, which I thought was good, and Amsterdam, which I thought was awful. (If I had not been literally stranded with this book, I would have put it down). Obviously, I haven't...
I often use little post-it notes with short comments to mark places of interest, so I can write an overall impression of the book, later on, in a journal.
Good question.
Lots of interesting lists, here! AFTER I've finished the Harry Potter Series, this is a partial list of what I've been meaning to read:
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
On Beauty by Zadie Smith
The Collector by John Fowles
Wonder Boys and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh by Michael Chabon

I think I've enjoyed something from all those categories except romance, and agree with MonkeyCatcher about historical fiction. Actually, memoirs and other nonfiction books have been good to me, too.

I wish I didn't have to work.
This was obviously a wonderful idea for a thread.
I'm usually Miss Potts because I have a blog with a teapot theme, and I think she looks sweet and friendly.
I read Sick Puppy ages ago, and still remember how funny it is. Skinny Dip and Nature Girl are both on my TBR pile, but I probably won't be getting to them for awhile.
Great thread! I love this encouragement:)
This is really a difficult choice, because I appreciate different authors in different ways, but there are no categories here, like at the Oscars:)
This list reminds me that there are some fine authors who I've never read--so, thank you for the reminder!
Joyce Carol Oates didn't make the list?
Wow, there's some interesting stuff, here!
I've heard that Isaac Asimov is the only author to have written a book in every Dewey-decimal category.
Well, I can't vouch for his being the only one, but that's got to be unusual, anyway:)
Hi!
I see you enjoy blogspot, too--I'll have to check out your blog. As you say, there are more great books out there than time!
Actually, it's been a long time since I had the change to visit HERE, but I hope to more often, and I look forward to hearing about what you're reading:)
