Am now reading Trotsky: The Eternal Revolutionary by Dmitri Volkogonov. Finished Russka: A Novel of Russia by Edward Rutherford - and even though the author covers a vast expanse of time, there were sufficient links between characters to hold my interest - really enjoyed this book.
I read both Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead a number of years ago - why? It just seemed that I should - can't explain it further than that. Am glad I read Rand, but don't think I would re-read either book.

Thanks for your response re: Rutherford. I bought one of Penman's books a couple years ago, but for some reason I set it aside after only a few pages. Perhaps I'll have another go at it.
"Dust and Ashes"(Arbat Trilogy, Vol 3) by Anatoli Rybakov. Enjoyed all the books in this trilogy which is about the generation that grew up in the Stalin era.
Just finished Children of the Arbat by Anatoli Rybakov and enjoyed it very much - am now into the second of his trilogy, Fear, and have the third one, Dust and Ashes, beside my chair. Also in my "to read" stack is Russka: The Novel of Russia by Edward Rutherford. Can't comment on that one yet...

Am glad to hear you're finding Safranski's book on Nietzsche to be fascinating as I only yesterday checked this book out of the library. Haven't started it yet - hope I'm not in over my head.
I tried once before to read A People's Tragedy but didn't stay with it. After reading Natasha's Dance, I was spurred on to try the previous book again and am enjoying it this time around. I'll admit I tend to have trouble from time to time keeping up with all the characters and the various...
