"Il Gatopardo" (The Leopard) - G. Tomasi di Lampedusa
"Il barone rampante" (The baron in the trees) - Italo Calvino

I have no idea how's Slaughter-House Five, but if you had to read The old man and the sea instead, I would kill someone if I were in your shoes...
(I also thought it would be a fast reading... my mistake)

No, but "Sons and Lovers" had a close call... It was the first time I thought about burning a book (oh, wait, no, that was when I tried to read "portrait of an artist as a young man"...).

I don't know if you consider it a classic, but "Sons and Lovers" was a total nightmare. I also didn't appreciate "The catcher in the rye" that much.

I used to have lots of watches, but nowadays I just stick to these two (both gifts):
A Swatch Irony (offered by hubby).
And another one, also Swatch (offered by parents), with turtles and suns (couldn't find pictures of both, I'll try to take a picture and place it here later).

This week nothing weird happened, but a few weeks ago something strange happened to me:
The alarm clock went off and I sat on the bed thinking that I was really sleepy. I got up, went to the bathroom and started preparing to take a bath (I have to take I bath in the morning, is the only way I...
I usually read while I'm on my way to work, so basically I read on the train.
At home...
In the kitchen - while I'm making dinner
In the living-room (sofa) - sometimes at night
In the bedroom - rarely... I tend to fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow:rolleyes:

Here in Portugal we had a dictatorship for a long time (before I was born). I can't see myself in a world without freedom of speech. Imagine not being able to say what you think... *shudders*
It would also be complicated not being allowed to read everything I want. I love freedom above...
I don't there's any kind of book I wouldn't let my kids read. If my kids decided to read something I wouldn't appreciate, I would probably also read the same book to discuss some of the parts with them. I think that if we interact with our kids, there isn't a great "danger" to have them...
July:
"O anjo mudo" - Al Berto.
"Siddharta" - Herman Hesse
"Therapy" - David Lodge
"Até Amanhã, Camaradas" - Manuel Tiago
"Sons and Lovers" - D. H. Lawrence (it doesn't totally count since I only read half of it)

Been there, done that... ;) And I already know by heart the ingredients of the deodorants and shampoos of my bathroom...
Welcome. Have fun - and keep reading.

Depends on a lot of things... If I finish a book at night, I'll only start reading another the following day. If it was a thought provoking book, I also have a tendency to wait a bit and start reading another on the following day.
Many times I just start reading the new book almost...
I usually buy them in bookshops, here in Lisbon. The most famous is FNAC and there's also the Portuguese Bertrand. Lately I've been going to the El Corte Ingles, since I work nearby.

I thought Philip Hoffman did a terrific job. However, IMO, the movie is a bit slow-paced to me... some parts I watched on fast-forward, to be honest. It was interesting to see the personality of Capote and it has increased my will of reading In Cold Blood.
Other than that...

The last movie I saw was Transformers... lots of EFX but I though the story was not that good... and some parts were simply dumb/chaotic.
(Anamnesis, I have to confess that I hate Scarlett Johanssen with all my strenght. She is as lively as a wooden stick)
