For me, the most memorable thing about Pet Semetary was the night walk back to the burial ground. The rest of the book, and the changed people element didn't make a big impression on me.
Here are a couple of others that wouldn't be hard to find:
Something Wicked This Way Comes, Ray Bradbury (suspense/literary)
Dune, Frank Herbert (science fiction)
This novel would probably be hard to get hold of, but Night Stalks the Mansion was one of my favorites.
For classics, how about The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson?
It makes me sad, but I can understand the problem. Folks can be very nervous on planes. Anything that stokes that nervousness can be disruptive, even though it's completely harmless in truth.
Do you enjoy learning about and getting extra insights and writing from your favorite authors on websites? Do you interact with authors on their blogs or MySpace? Just curious. The publishing industry supports authors becoming more accessible. I'm looking for the readers' perspective.
