In a way, I do like the idea of having to get a job, become a productive citizen, AND, have an insurance coverage provided by the company. It sounds better than just another lazy person, who has no motivation and quits when he/she wants from a job when they feel like, and still expects same...
Recently my kids and I read The Old Country by Mordicai Gerstein.
144 pages - brief. Recommendable for grades 3 to 6th. I liked the story.
Also, recommendable: The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Selznick

Reading the article you posted, it resembles open source programming,
providing intellectual property to all without price. In some situations, open source has proven to create better products than having a private company do R&D.
Another example would be Wikipedia, and Wiktionary...
Yes, it was some html page I had opened using dos way back when.
It was some college site. It was wierd. Only thing I was using the Internet was for usenet and ftp'ing into a bbs when I got bumped off using direct connection thru a modem.
I am not sure how serious the book has to be. But, I read Slaves of Spiegel by Daniel Pinkwater, a very short and funny story. It has someone being abducted by aliens who love food. And food can be religious in this case? ;)
A tale of two cities. I had stopped somewhere even before 1/3rd of the book. Could not figure out what the heck's going on. I was reading some synopsis of the book at a library, and found out one person was to be playing another character? Now I see why some teens are rebelling against...
