Yes, as others said buy from highly rated sellers. I got jipped 2x from "Just Launched" sellers. I don't recall getting anything from those guys. Once I was promised to get my check after returning a torn book but that didn't happen. I returned the book, did not get my check.
But, I...
About a year or so ago, while looking over my AMEX credit card bill, there was $1.00 finance charge. Because I try not to keep any balances on my credit cards due to my wife's disgust toward bank interest, it was prominent. I called in and inquired of the charge and it turned out to be some...
I watched some parts of the movie, then a few months later, I read the book. I think that was the first Stephen King Book I read. Awesome! I always kept away from his works, because I don't do horror and didn't know he wrote 'regular' genre. Later on, I rented the movie and watched the other...
I would think Don Quixote had mental illness.
How about Captain Ahab in the Moby Dick?
Then there was the big guy, Lennie, in Of Mice and Men.
One flew of the Cuckoo's nest!
After having surveyed his family members, a neighbor, his uncle, cousins and the forum members, the result is in.
And since "the inquiring minds want to know." This is what he said: "More people prefer hamburgers, and ketchup, and lemonade only if there is no beer." :D
Thank you...
My kid is doing a survey as a part of his homework.
Please help him out with the following questions.
The deadline is tomorrow, so, within 24 hours of this post, any replies would be appreciated.
1. Do you like hamburgers or hot dogs better?
2. Do you like mustard, mayonnaise, or...
Thanks for the reply. My kid read few of her books. All of them would be about Pippi Longstocking though. I did not realize that the author's other books were also popular. I should look into it. Thanks.
In regards how U.S. does not have some books - that is so true. Is it because the...
Only thing I can think of is something like 1984 by Orwell. A fine book. But, how are we to introduce these to our kids? A history book? I guess I would personally have to change the title to 2084 using a marker pen.
;)
Oh, and then there is the Da Vinci Code.
Davinci code mentions of astrology in several times. i.e.: ..Age of Aquarius-the water bearer.., and mentions of tarot cards.
Although not a real "mainstream", but...,
Juv novel by Avi: Midnight Magic starts off with tarot cards, then moves aways, and at the end, it ends with it.
Another novel, Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic, mentions of tarot cards a few times and that was turned into a movie, with Nicole...
Not yet. He has over 60+ books published? I barely touched the tip of the iceberg. I've only read only 3 or 4 of his books, and my kid has read close to 20 of them. And the Charlotte Doyle story is a winner of the Newberry Medal. We'll get there. :)
I am not sure if this would apply since I have not yet read any Sanford's books, therefoere I don't know what you mean by 'simple'. But, I felt The Kite Runner was written in the most simplistic language, (obviously written by a foreigner) yet moving. Very interesting book.
The author's...
You are not the only one. I hit the salvation army. Also, you can get some ok deals from Amazon.com - and get used books - if you have the patience to wait.
Good thing the domain name was renewed quickly, else, we would be reading about another mystery/murder story ;) - hopefully not written by J. Grisham. The Innocent Man was awful (imho).
Won't you try searching for: Shakespeare made easy+Hamlet at Amazon.com. I had found some "easy" versions of Hamlets at my local libraray. The Shakespeare made easy books have the original 'eloquent' verses on the left side and the modern english lingo on the right side of the book. The...
Do you work for a Fire Dept?
For me, I think wrote the reason before somewhere. I finished reading about Gilgamesh on the day I signed up. Pretty neat story.
Someone should start a thread about their avatars ;)
Well, I just have to participate in this thread!
Check out my current avatar. Mr. Steinbeck himself! :)
In East of Eden, it is truly amazing to see how he reveals our deep, darkness of our inner hearts. Cause havoc. Then at the end, he gives us hope that the vile beast within us can be...
Sisterhood of Traveling Pants series. It's a young adult, girly stuff.
I hate to admit reading it, but, what can I say - I like to broaden my mind. :D
And, I only read the 1st of 4.
