Hi All,
Just sent my first novel off to a mixed response from agents (all UK based). In summary:
One - not interested
One - not their type of book
Two - not taking on anymore authors at all (odd!)
Two - not taking on anymore authors at the moment but come back to us in the next 8-weeks...
Putting my neck on the line a little her but - I didn't like the Da Vinci Code but I quite liked Angels and Demons. Not to taxing and the plot wasn't bad.
Why do I feel as if I should be apologising for this admission.... :D
This Lord of the Flies stuff seems to be a bit of an argument provoker - lets change the subject. Does anybody have an opinion on the bible? :D
I was meant to read it in school, but it's one of the very few books I decided not to bother with!
Apparently it has some real floors and theres...
Plot Twists
In terms of plot twists, I thought Jeffrey Deaver's 'The Vanished Man' was outstanding and about as good as it gets. I had about three different scenarios in my head from about half-way and none of then turned out to be right (althought that may tell you more about me than the...
Book Reviews
I did try and start a forum in Newcastle for book reviews, but after it was deided that the words canny, mint, cracking, allreet, belter and shite weren't to be used, the whole concept just fell apart!!!
An amazing author without doubt. A pal put me onto him and I ploughed through his Lincoln Rhyme series and then onto Garden of Beasts and Twisted. But then it happened....I started to read the Location Scout series (only the last one is worth picking up as the rest are beyond poor).
Another...
Many Thanks
Thanks Shade...I guess these are the things I miss when I've been looking at the same words for so long - no perspective at all.
I atke your amount about putting the funny lines as character speak instead of in thgird person narrative.
Appreciate the positive comments as well...
Comedy
I always go to family do's as my Gran is the one person that actually laughs at me when I take a shot at wit. That said, she is 86 and quite unaware of what the hells going on at the best of times.
I'm only 5ft7 so we should try a party together in the Arnie / Danny DeVito style...
Joining In...
I thought all this typing and replying stuff was joining in....
I'm not to sure about the feet over the fire stuff, forcing me to spill the beans on my criminal enterpise. I'm not a cornered animal looking for a way out, or as guilty as a puppy next to a fresh poo!
I'm not...
Leckert
Hi
Stating the exact opposite or taking points from an email and responding with a literal understanding is absolute comedy genius. You must be a riot at family do's, what with your height and jokes about your blood type.
Apologise with an s is the English spelling
Later tall...
Thanks for the advice
I guess its each to their own. I am a writer without morals.
Seriously though, I am being open about the books status. As its stands, grammar withstanding in the odd place, its probably as good as I'm going to get it.
As I said before, I'm not promoting it anywhere...
A response to all
Firstly, its a completed story and spellchecked to the best of my ability.
Secondly (and hopefully for the last time) I, me, David Frame, did not come on this site and push my book down anybodys throat.
The script is for sale for anybody who wishes to spend a few dollars...
A Question
I forgot to ask outside of all the sniping and gutter talk. Outside of my poor grammar, what did people actually think of the story from the first three chapters????
