    So, then my boss said...

"I know you won't mind coming in on Saturday (or working late tonight)." No problem, us peons have no life. Why don't I just set up a cot so I can be at your beck and call 24/7!! Has anyone seen my red stapler?

    e-Books

If I had a laptop I'd probably give it a try, but it would be uncomfortable to sit in front of the screen for the length of time I like to read.

    remember your first chapter book?

Pippi Longstocking & Ramona the Pest(I think thats the title). Then I read a lot of Nancy Drew which led later to Agatha Christie. :)

right to life - right to die

To avoid having your point missed, maybe you shouldnt insult and rephrase others statements. So far you,ve changed what I said into "Nobody here has ever had difficult family life and death circumstances to deal with" and "...that they are void of heartache and loss". I never even thought those...

right to life - right to die

Im not saying he shouldnt have moved on, but why, if he is not living by the 'rules' of marriage, why were Terri and her family forced to live by those rules? If we can make that allowance for one partner in this, why not the other? I also think he should have divorced her and given...

Lord of the Rings: Favorite edition?

I have my favorite set complete finally- the 1966 Ballantine Books paperback series. I first bought 'The Two Towers' at a used book store and read the authors statement on the back which said that this edition was the only one published with his consent, so I started my quest for the rest of...

    family guy

"There's an evil monkey in my closet!!" Cant think of a favorite line, but one I use often is from the Christmas episode where Peter loses the gifts and everything burns. Lois is handling it so well until--"NO PAPER TOWELS!!!" :D

right to life - right to die

I re-read my posts again, and where do you get "bleed out family pain and tears"? Thats insulting and wrong. All I did was state facts in someone's life, no crying or bleeding. I never asked for sympathy for me or Jay! And you also have no idea what transpired between Terri and Michael, nor...

    Any Clive Barker fans?

'The Inhuman Condition' is a book of his short stories, also 'The Books of Blood' Volumes 1-3. Jenem- I would still recommend reading his short stories, you're missing out on some weird stuff!! :D

How do you choose the book you'll read next ?

I walk around and stare at the bookshelves which all have many 'To be read' books. Eventually, something says "READ ME". Sometimes it takes several trips around the shelves. :)

Books that you wished they made into a movie?

Yes, but as you and Motokid said, it will never be like you imagine and the studios will tear it up. I'm always ready for disappointment when I watch a book-turned-movie, ever since I read 'The Amityville Horror' and then went to the movie. What a let down that was! :(

    Do you tend to be...

I only read one at a time or I get mixed up, but my daughter can have up to four books going at once!

right to life - right to die

Thanks to you all for responding. I wasnt trying to be a pain. I'll try to explain myself better. I'm very new to any sort of posting, and I first found this topic late at night, probably not the best time to be thinking and writing. I'm wasnt looking for opinion on Jays...

right to life - right to die

I noticed noone has gone near my last post. Too close for comfort?? Have any of you, besides the person(s) who work in the medical field, ever been close to a person or family in this situation? Maybe its easier to decide to let her die because shes so far removed from your life, just another...

has there been any movie that was......

The Shining On the Stephen King/Shining comparison, I pick the book. I read it when I was 13 and it scared the crap out of me and compelled me to read and collect his books. I've read it twice since-its one of the only books I've re-read! The first movie is practically a different story, and...

    "Freaks"

Freaks is one-of-a-kind! It was made in 1932, when talking pictures were still very young, and most of the cast had thick accents and were not actors by trade. This accounts for the 'poor' acting, I think. What most people miss about this film is that the "freaks" are presented as the good...

    How big is yours?

That sounds like an amazing collection! You must have just about everything Sci-Fi, plus much more! Do you collect bios at all? Suddenly, my collection has become tiny. And just last night I was thinking I had too many books on my "to be read" list after being prompted to go around...

How did you get your love of books?

That is an excellent testimony for comic book reading! :) It was and still is frowned upon by some as "not real books", yet most men and boys I know,( including my son who hates to read ) read comics, or got thier desire to read for pleasure from comics. And if my Alex will read...
