Subscribe to a paper, get a free tablet computer?

Not everyone has to have their own tablet. Why do they have this delusion that they can make money on the hardware? The point of the hardware is and should always be delivery of paid content. The only company that can really make money on both is Apple, because of the trust and loyalty they have...

Subscribe to a paper, get a free tablet computer?

Sounds stupid. Why bother to make another piece of hardware when making software for existing hardware is cheaper and easier and will give you a larger installed user base?

Hello everyone, why does your forum hate my book collection?

Yeah, Stranger in a Strange Land is a very old book. Heinlein, baby. I do love the vast selection. I've tended more towards non-fiction myself lately, but most of my reading is snarky blog sites and forum posts. I have a massive appreciation for humor in the written word. Ever since I was a...

Hello everyone, why does your forum hate my book collection?

I'm a gigantic sci-fi nut. I have read all of the Dune books and love them dearly, all of the Ender's series, including the Shadow books, Ringworld, lots of Piers Anthony including On a Pale Horse and those that followed, Stranger in a Strange Land, I could go on forever. Now I'm flip flopping...

Yes I bought your E-Reader, no, I don't want your emails.

Forgive me for ranting, but I have found that in the modern age, buying a product has turned into some sort of implicit agreement to receiving marketing emails about it and the myriad of things you think I should do with it. I know what I want to do with my Nook, Barnes and Noble, I want to buy...

    The Big Bang Theory

In order for any show to continue past a first season, there has to be an evolution with the relationships. Without that, the show quickly becomes stale and dies.

Hello everyone, why does your forum hate my book collection?

Many thanks, Peder, for the attention whoring posts in my introduction thread saying you're ignoring it. I really appreciate it. It's fascinating to hear that you're ignoring this thread, and even more fascinating that you want to talk about ignoring this thread in this thread. Clearly you are...

    New Radiohead Feb 19

Great album. The newspaper edition I got came with an acid blotter sheet. I thought that was hilarious.

Donald Rumsfeld: Known and Unkown: A Memoir

It wasn't written to answer his criticisms by people who were opposed to his policy, it was meant to flatter himself to the people who supported him during Bush's tenure. I only read exerpts, but I found it equally unconvincing, and rather masturbatory.

Marty Beckerman: The Heming Way: How to Unleash the Booze-Inhaling,...

I can scale a fish. Does that count? But I agree that modern men have been significantly diluted. Would read this book.

Do we learn something from the books we read or just filling up our free time?

Even in reading books that are nothing more than literary fluff, I learn about how to use the English language. I've probably learned more vocabulary from simply reading than I have from classes dedicated to expanding it. I've also learned plenty of what not to do. Things like writing about...

February 2011: Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice

I cannot stand this book. I had to read it more than once, for various classes and to me all it really underscores for me is the author's stunning ability to describe and define boredom for an entire novel.

    Brian Greene: The Elegant Universe

I love this book. There are not enough swear words to properly convey how much I love it. It blows my mind like a thai hoo... look I really like the book.
