    Construction of your personal library?

i have a smallish room filled floor to ceiling.. the books are mostly in bookcases that line the walls, the shelves of which are mostly all double stacked, with more books stacked on top, and even more books stacked on top of each other, spines facing outward as if they were on a shelf, stacked...

Brick & mortar bookstores- R.I.P. & good riddance

i think book stores are mostly dead here in Australia. 'brick and mortar' whether a chain label or independent, are full of books that are vastly overpriced, due in part at least to the short sightedness of the federal government, who think they have a mandate to 'protect' Australian...

    Recommendations - good mystery series

a few more to look at perhaps.. have you read any PD James, or Elizabeth George? would you like medieval mysteries? Susanna Gregory's Matthew Bartholomew series is one of my favourites.. Bernard Knight's Crowner John series.. of course, i can't not mention Ellis Peters' Cadfael. Barbara...

    I'm going to be crushed

i keep telling myself i will buy no more books till i have read all the ones i have now.. but it just doesn't work that way! especially if there is a sale.. or i need a book for the book club.. or i have to buy the latest in a series in case i don't see it again - yes, i know that just me...

    Question about Book Signings

one point i'd make.. listen to as many of the other people as you can, and try to make sure your question or comment is different... i remember meeting CJ Cherryh at a booksigning event, she looked so bored behind her polite smile and glazed eyes as she talked to fan upon fan about her...

    Any ideas?

i am known for being 'blunt' - some have a different word for this trait of mine.. (grin) so no friend or family member is too surprised when i am honest with them on issues others might skirt around.. life is too short.........
