    Baby Names

Great choice! That's the name of my little guy, too. We've also considered Jacob for the next one but we're still up in the air for girls names.

Michel Faber: The Crimson Petal and the White

I agree with Ronny. The ending fit the book really well and it left me thinking and talking about it with my wife for days. It was one of the best books I read last year and I would recommend his other works too. Each one is very unique and Faber has quickly become one of my favorite authors.

The "I had a bad day" thread

Is it OK if the bad day hasn't happened yet? For my Friday night fun tomorrow I will also be in the dentist chair having a procedure called "scaling and root planing" done. Everything I've heard about it makes me think it will be fairly awful. As if that's not enough, I get to spend Saturday...

Hey Ice Hockey Fans !!!!! Deal?

The West is a scary place to be. The Avs are 2 pts out of first and 3 pts from being out of the playoffs entirely. Results from Tanguay's are supposed to come in today so I'm crossing my fingers...

After some wrangling, the book is accepted and thus begins the meteoric rise and tumultuous...

Hey there, ds. Thanks for the kind words! Everything is going well and I hope the same can be said for you. I've been around off and on, just not posting much but I feel a resurgence coming on. Given your penchant for excitement and adventure, I know LD would be right up your alley...

I have to tell you, you could do a lot worse than starting with Lonesome Dove. One of my top five books of all time.

Guy Gavriel Kay - The Fionavar Tapestry

I found it in the smaller size at a used book store but it looks like now they've released a 10th anniversary version that is the trade paperback (what you called the mid size). Amazon has it for $12 here or you could go hunting at some used bookstores.

ds - what can I say? A magnificent rendering. I'm sure his people will be contacting you shortly. :D ions- TIGANA! Like Kook said, it's starts a little bit slow but just builds from there. Can't recommend it enough!
