    At least in the US, the authors do signings for the pleasure of selling many books. One of the local bookstores has a good relationship and reputation for "literary" authors so they all go there. A shame, the store is staffed by pretentious prigs. Ah, well. I have worked in a chain...

    I just watched the movie about her, so picked up her poems again. I appreciated them more this time, but they are very dense, the imagery is just packed in, so yes, I do find them a touch less accessible. Also been reading Ted Hughes poems about her (Birthday Letters.)

    Howdy! I love, love, love American Gods. Will recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately, am not loving the Neverwhere TV series, despite loving the book. May send it back unfinished. :(

    Bought this on the way home. Had friends at home so didn't have time to read more than the 1st page, but found it very intriguing. A great voice, pulls you in right off.

    I think most genre fiction is plagued by publishers not being willing to take a chance on anything but a tried and true formula.
