You will find that the experience of living in another place has inestimable value later in life. It will give you a better understanding of the things you read in those books, among other positives.
there's an on-line SciFi magazine I find to be above the average in a number of areas (and not because they publish some of my stuff). SciFi fans and writers alike should check it out.http://surprisingstories.dcwi.com
There is some good modern art out there. Most of it is some scam artist proving that scamming IS an art! You can sell the public anything if you can get some "expert" to say it's something it isn't.
A friend of mine who ran a bar-lounge for twenty years saved burnt matchsticks. He had a...
If you're describing a battle in a rocky, mountainous region, or a murder by a river, or a chase across the desert, you have to describe the place. It is part of the action. In a fantasy setting, you have to describe a fantasy landscape. In a romance, you have to describe the gardens or...
when I was a musician, I did covers, but that's a different ballgame. "Same Old Wine" did the most, so far as making the charts went.
Yup! I make up my own covers. It's really fairly easy, but some publishers won't allow it. I'm writing an instuction thing about it, because it's a pet peeve...
I'm wearing a bathing suit, listening to Molly Hatchet album "Beatin' the Odds" and haveing an argument with the techies at a publisher because of the method I developed to make covers for my books. It upsets them no end when I do things that "you can't do that way" so often.
Well, you can't...
Dire Straits also did "Telegraph Road", which was taken from a book I read in the 60's. I don't recall the author, but it was set in Australia. It's on the "Love Over Gold" album, and, as a musician, I feel it was the best thing they ever did.
Welcome, Serene
I'm also serene most ... well, some ... not really. I rant a lot.
For a signature, how about: Calm and serene -- and if you don't get out of my face I'm gonna...
We sorta like dicotomy and other weird statements.
Anyhow, Welcome aboard!
I have a shelf of original MS's and a shelf of books (mostly comic paperbacks: Andy Capp, Peanuts, BC, The Wizard of Id, etc.) Agatha Christie, Nero Wolfe, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, Vonegut, Mailer, etc. that I will read again, and a few that I might read again if I get incredibly bored...
Welcome, Drax
I think you'll like our weird little group -- well we'd be weird on a "normal" forum, but no one's ever accused writers of being normal! I mean, like, how you gonna sell anything if you're just like everybody else? What would you have to say?
Cover Design
Several people have asked me to explain the way i make covers because they are very dissatisfied with their publisher's efforts.
It's a matter of having a digital camera (or scanner) and an idea.
I've posted a my method on my website covers1

HHGtG should appeal to anyone between 14 and 114, in my opinion. It has something for everyone who likes SciFi, and even for a lot of people who don't.
