It's easy to put out a book a month when you let someone else write it and then stick your name in big letters on the top over those of the actual author who writes "in the style of..." [/cynicism]
I'm rolling through Asmiov's Foundation Series now and they are pretty good. His stuff is smart, but doesn't get so bogged down in the science that you get bored or lose your way. Having read a lot of sci-fi, I would agree with what Kook said about them being a good entry into the genre.

Guilty as charged
The key to the film is to not watch it alone. I went with four other guys to see in in the theater and there were three others in the same movie, all who came by themselves. By the end of the first 45 minutes, all of the solo watchers had left. The five of us howled all the way through it.

Now I just need to get to my requisite shmoozing.
The department is pretty competitive so the key is a combination of scores and relationships. Time to pull the clubs out of the garage.
