    BBC's The Big Read - Top 100

I have 35- so far. (satisfactory, isn't is?) But this list doesn't seem much suitable. I think that the sample wasn't representative. What an idea to put "Bridget Jones" and "Harry Potter"!

has there been any movie that was......

I wouldn't agree that "Gone with the wind" was better as a film. In the book the relationship between Rhett and Scarlett was presented in more equal way. In the film, it looked like he did everything to conquer her and she rejected him.In the book it was different- he never confessed that he...

Now, for all the ladies...best romantic movie

The best...it would be "Little shop around the corner" with James Stewart. The main characters were so sweet, the plot interesting and there was a lot of subtle humour in it. If the cartoons can also compete, I choose also "The Beauty and the Beast" by Disney. I love its message.

    Hans or Grimm

Well, the choice is really difficult- but rather Andersen. His stories have unusual underlying philosophical thought and deep message. On the other hand, Grimms' stories present very typical motifs, which can be found in many tales from different countries. They are not as original as Andersen's.

I strongly recomend "Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino. It's great, funny, but with deeper thought underlying. All stories are just divine, each is based on some scientific theory- imagine adventures of the last dinosaure, world without colours, uncle not accepted by his family because of being the...

To be honest, I omitted a few particularly long descriptions at the beginning of Ivanhoe...You made me confess it...What is more, there aren't many old English words. When you get through the beginning, it's quite easy. As to elves, I think that Tolkien intended to show them in in the air of...

Idun, if you write such things of the book you enjoy, what would you say about these you didn't like? ITA about elves- they are just as you described. I think that they use their magic to earn a living and also to make lembas bread. I always have the impression that they could help MORE the...
