Is an apology on my part in order then?
Aaaanyways, I totally forgot that we also read Roddy Doyle's The Snapper back in Gymnasium - good times. Got top marks when I got a question about that one at my exam :P Didn't particularly like the book - but after I've been to Ireland I might...
So something good did come of the disaster.
I feel so... lucky. I have no stories that can rival these wonderfully hilarious tales... well, maybe one.
So here goes:
It was some years back - while I was still practicing Kung Fu. I also functioned as instructor for some of the younger...
I shave - legs, armpits, nether regions. I've never experimented with waxing - don't think I will either. I can get a close enough shave without the sandpaper feel anyway, so why put myself through waxing?
As for the guys: As I said, I prefer my men hairy (not too hairy though - I put the...
I dunno - sometimes I think I was too old to read that book when I did. Sometimes I think I was too young. I was 18. It's a noble yearning, true, I won't argue there, but did it have take an entire book to describe it? The book itself is not good enough to carry through - boil it down to a...
Oh I suspect you're right.
It's smaller for sure :P Considering the entire population of DK can live in NYC 3 times over :P
My home town has approx 65.000 inhabitants and we still have a university. It's nice and clean here hehe gotta love it :D
I got it from Amazon - the Wordsworth Classics go for very little. So if you order books from there you can just stack it on top of the others at almost no additional cost.
3 quid or so. Not too bad.
Hmmm
In Gymnasium (that's similar level to Upper Secondary) I read Hamlet and liked it - I'm generally a sucker for Shakespeare.
I read Catcher in the Rye and found it incredibly boring.
All the rest of what we read was only bits and pieces of different works.
Now at university I've read...
Ah no worries. I'm not easily offended.
This was merely my way of pointing out that your phrase wasn't as clear as it could have been. And I found it rather funny - the idea that people everywhere will end up being like the New Yorkers. It's an interesting thought, though I've yet to figure...
Oh I intend to hehe and thx.
It seems it may not be necessary to start one now :P
Now I *am* getting curious though. What do people here think of shaving the 'ground floor'?
Viriginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse
I find her stream of consciousness style horribly dull and very hard to put up with throughout an entire book. I feel asleep while reading it - which is bad. And it was just after noon and I'd had my 8 hours of sleep at night so it wasn't even because I was...
I talk to myself a lot. Sometimes because I need to try out dialogues for stuff I'm writing, sometimes because I'm reading passages aloud, and sometimes because I'm actually in the middle of a pro-/con discussion with myself.
The only times where I'll never break into talk with myself is when...
Around here those swear words are in fact used more by men than by women - at least if we stick to the age group 10-25. After that it evens out.
Goodness - if this is the only indication you've seen that all the world is not like NY I'd say you need to read more about the rest of the world...
Men are starting to shave everything.
*shudder*
It's the whole metrosexual hype they're running now. Now my friend says a man with his nether regions shaved is very very nice - she likes.
Me, I kinda like the hair - I'm not into the whole prepubescent look.
Ahem, soooo anyways.
I...
Yaaaaaaay it's September.
Not so much because summer is over - I quite like summer - but because I've been itching to get back to my university classes. I've really missed them and I've been looking forward to going back for the past month or so, and we always start on September 1st - so yay...
I'm keeping a LiveJournal.
I try to update frequently, but I really only do so when there's something to write. Much of last spring has no entires at all - I was busy with my studies, but this summer has had quite a few all things considered. Sometimes I go weeks without writing anything...
The Black Cat had me eyeing black cats in my neighbourhood suspiciously for quite some time :P
We read the Cat, The House of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado and The Purloined Letter for a Literature class last autumn, and that got me into Poe for real.
Had only read Usher and The Raven...
I have all the Books of Blood volumes - brilliant horror short stories.
I made the mistake of reading some of them when I was camping. So there I was in the middle of the night, alone, in my tent, with my sleeping bag, my flash light and one of the Books of Blood. Now *that* was horror...
