    84 Charing Cross Road?

Lucia416, I couldn't make it to Charing Cross, but I called the Phoenix Theatre which is along there, and an absolute sweetheart of a man went out and had a look for me. He said that it was a very newly opened bar/restaurant called The Med Kitchen. The plaque commemorating the place is not in...

    Randomness! Yay!

I dunno. I have no idea what I was talking about. You can't hold me responsible for what I type, it's just not...just not the done thing.

    Randomness! Yay!

Hello trouble, It's about time you made an appearance, I was starting to think the mystical force had weakened. Hey you know that you have a British accent right; it comes and goes. Perhaps your mother is British? :D

    Favourite sport???

I see that you're an NFL fan Aquablue. I pretty much watch any sport - not intentionally, just if it's on I get sucked in, yes even darts & snooker. Enjoying the Cricket at the moment. Any Boxing fans? - Any thoughts on the upcoming Calzaghe fight with Peter Manfredo (from Sly Stallone's...

    Skypecast - Reprise

You'll be so proud of us, we accomplished lots! We found out what happens to a man if he spends five hours in a pub (he starts to see butterflys). We also figured out that it probably wouldn't be advisable to travel from New Zealand to the UK via train. But most importantly, we discovered the...

    Review: Casino Royale

Kenny Shovel & Stewart, excellent reviews. Since you've both covered everything between you, I'll just quickly say; I'm a Bond fan and have therefore enjoyed pretty much every Bond movie but with Casino Royale I not only enjoyed it, I liked it too. I don't have any complaints with the film...

    Naguib Mahfouz

That's a very good understanding of Khadija. She is very smart, and I can believe that she will be master of her own destiny . Aisha (it's spelt this way in my copy) is so far not much more than a pretty face - in a way her lack of substance just highlights Khadija's personality all the more...

O.J. Simpson's First "If I had Killed My Wife" Novel

Really? You surprise me, I would never have thought that :D . I think the publisher just tallied up the costs (advertising, PR, possible lawsuits etc) and realised that they outweighed the projected sales. Had the pre-order sales been higher, I doubt moral outrage would have got in the way.

    Naguib Mahfouz

I quite like things that are slow paced, especially if the writer is taking a more scenic route - and here Mahfouz is taking the reader right into the heart of Cairo, and what better way to introduce us to the culture and society than through this middle class family. I'm more than happy to take...

    Naguib Mahfouz

Funnily enough I'm reading Palace Walk (first of the Cairo Trilogy) at the moment. I'm not very far in and it hasn't as yet completely grabbed me, but it has taken me out of a recent reading rut. I can see already why Mahfouz was so admired, his writing is simple and very readable, yet still...
