Planning on seeing it?
Me toooooooooo! I'll borrow it from the library sometime soon, and let you know what I thought of it, (if and oooooonly if you tell your views too). :p
Really?
I read this novel a year back or so, and I liked it. Don't remember much of it though, but liked Lahiri's writing style, so I might give her "short-stories" a try once in future.
Has anyone read anything by the Russian author Gogol by the way? I'd like to read some of his, sounded...
Not bad at all. But I just hated Levin, so there weren't any laughter going on here. ;)
Only read 1 chapter so far (which was on 4 pages), but great, really great as far as I've come! :D I found it to be rather "poetic" (the first chapter), but that might just be me. Plus, I'll let you know...
I like the way "Taz the Tazmanian Devil" spins. It's fascinating. :p
Anyways, welcome to this forum. Hope you'll like it here.
Which "European novels" did/do you like?
Thank you for sharing Wabbit! :) I liked the first one (not much into childrens/babies, so the second one was silly, but I'm really glad the Egyptians loved their children, you know). :p
I liked this:
"The Man that speaks too much will lose himself outside
The Man that speaks too few will...
FINALLY!!!
Sometimes when you are reading a very long book which is dull and making no sense, you still keep on reading, and when you reach the last page, you’re glad you did, because you understand why the author needed so many pages to tell you what he did. This was not the case with Anna...
Thanks lies.
"About a Boy", wasn't bad, I liked it. Read it for a "school-assignment". It was a fine read.
You shouldn't read "Fever Pitch" though, unless you are an Arsenal-fan.
I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. It was ok. I felt the author messed up the ending, but that might just be me. And like you, I don't get why everyone find it to be really good...
I read it! And I feel like I didn't get it: I'm actually pretty sure I didn't. I found the language to be a bit too much complicated for me, and the book was rather "difficult" and a tiny bit dull at times. There were some nice passages in there, but as I said, I just didn't get much out of it...
"East of Eden" had some really great ones, almost all over the book. (I think), so there'll be difficult to "pick" just a few out. :D But I'll give it a shot after borrowing the book from the library again, since I don't have it. :)
Plus I'll check my other books too, so don't worry; soon...
Have you read "Doppler" by him? It's hilariously funny (if one can say that), but serious too. His other novels I'm not planning on reading quite yet, since I've heard about EVERY and EACH of them about 1000000 times, due to a a "task" back in secondary school where everyone decided to "precent"...
Haruki Murakami? Japanese author, you may want to check another link where he has been discussed:

Some of his stuff is pretty good.
