This is a very odd argument and I have heard it so many times I wonder if people think about what they are saying or just repeat what they hear.
I will humor you anyway... I do not believe in the easter bunny either but, apart from the fact that I have never seen it, I have no proof the cute...
See... my problem with this is that for it to be true the so called "subconscious" would have to be an independent thing, something that would not necessarily be connected to the brain. So really this is just another way of saying spirit or soul.
I do agree that what you think and believe have...
Oh! I have read A LOT about all the religions going around today and I think I know a little bit about the general idea of reincarnation.
According to Allan Kardek, a guy who I think came up with a whole religion based on this idea(one of the many), there are a limited number of souls, that...
Stalingrad was the very first book I read in English, my husband (boyfriend at the time) forgot it at my house and I just decided to try. NOT an easy read for someone that could speak English but was in no way proficient.
I did enjoy it and apart from the sheer volume of dates and numbers and...
Maybe we should elaborate our answer to get things going a little? ;)
No, I do not believe in any spiritual soul, paranormal, out of body kind of thing. I think you die, it is over, that is it.
We live forever through our descendants. Passing ahead our DNA and evolving like all other...
I am not left handed but always wear my watch on my right hand, since I was a kid.
I have a pretty one, all stainless steel from Gucci that looks more like a bracelet than a watch and was a wedding gift from my husband. I love it. :)
I always liked to go out with "bookish" guys but my husband ended up being not that much into books, unless they are reference books about WWII or airplanes. We cuddle: I read my books, he read his Flypast magazine or watch a documentary and we are happy. ;) :D
It is nice to go out with guys...
Isn't it scary? 1984 comes to mind as it has so many times when thinking about this country in the last few years.
Exactly! Where does it stop? Once you open the gates to censorship the future is bleak.
"I, Lucifer" by Glen Duncan was very strange. Just the idea of it, with the devil having a chance at salvation and the way "he" tells the story in first person.
Very funny though. The devil has a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor, as you would expect I guess :D. I enjoyed it a lot.
Glen...
I did a little Google-ing and found two films/books with the character Audrey Macleah: one is "Perfect Prey" and the other is "When the Bough Breaks".
I don't know if any of these are the book you want but I think the Perfect Prey one sounds like what you described.
I finished this book a couple of months ago and didn’t really think it was anything special... just ok.
Now, am I the only S.K. fan who loves Dreamcatcher AND Insomnia???
I just love these books and have seen so many people who don’t like them that I am starting to think I am a...
Hello Geisha_girl,
I just read a book that might fall in the middle and help you in this "transition" :D. One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus is something like a historic novel and tells the life of a white woman who marries an Indian chief. The story happens during the Indian Wars period...
My life on a plate by India Knight
Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan
One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus
Black Man by Richard Morgan
I liked them all; it was a good month :). My favorite would have to be “I, Lucifer”, dark and hilarious. I recommend Glen Duncan...
Olá!
I am just joining this forum today and came here to introduce myself.
As you may guess I LOVE TO READ :D and I love to talk about the books I read.
I like to read everything, from Asimov to Jane Austin, from Morris West to Richard Dawkins.
Some of my favorite books of all times are...
