Listening to Dr (Prof?) Brian Cox on the Radio today explaining what was happening.
Apparently, they won't be powering up the machine again until next year because they go to maintenance during the winter to avoid big electricity bills!
I have an image of my father wandering around the...
Translated by W Lammers
This tells a story of Harada, a forty something TV scriptwriter living in Tokyo, just dealing with his divorce and loss of his only friend (who fancies his ex-wife).
Nothing much happens; his friend dumps him, he gets a job writing a pilot for a soap opera, a...
Sorry about my comment. The context was, I assumed that when you were talking about a seeing a teacher teaching creationism on a recent program about Darwin, you were refering to something on the series presented by Dawkins earlier this month.
So, my message might be more clearly expressed as...
I've just finished “The Outsider” and very much impressed by it. But in the end I was undecided if the protagonist was autistic or sociopathic. To a degree the character was intellectually aware of his emotional dis-junction from society, which suggests a sociopath, but he seemed unaware of the...
Are there really so many of these nutters that they warrant "all those"?
I must admit I have never met or seen any such teachers (but I am not American and frankly I can't put up with Dawkin's diatribes so I couldn't sit through the Darwin programs).
"Baby on Board" signs
I rarely find myself planning to ram the rear of the car in-front, and I can't say that seeing one of those signs makes me pause and pick another car to run off the road.
Should I have an equivalent sign "Old Git on Board, so feel free to hit me"?
David Starkey's biography is good and not too too dry. The book did accompany his TV series, but it is closer to an academic biography than a bodice ripper. I do suspect though that he is an admirer of Elizabeth rather than 100 percent disinterested (uninterested?).
I've just been listening to this on the radio (BBC R4 Book of the week) read by the author. I am always impressed by Barnes when he has been speaking and this seems to be in that realm. Thanks for the review, I think I'll try this out.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Yes, these classes are exceptions, you can tell as the extend the exception class. So they can do everything an exception class can do (sort of like spiderman :)).
Are you asking why does Java require the parent classes which are extended to be in your...
It is a bit pretensious, but my favourite is brandy and champagne. But my wallet doesn't often strecth to that so I normally stick to Normandie cider (fruity and fizzy).
Hi,
I read it a long time ago (oh I managed to get his first name wrong - it's Walter not William). The only thing he published on the witches was a little 32 page booklet that is sold as the usual tourist fare. It (and his histories of Burnley and "Nelson & Marsden") are not lightweight -...
A warning about the HHGTTG series - I think the thrid or fouth volume was written under duress to fulfill Adam's contract with his publisher. Bascally, he said he didn't want to do it. The series doesn't reflect the brilliance and freshness of the first book.
