    Umberto Eco

I've had Baudolino out from the library for eight weeks, read three or four books in between, and am still determined to finish Baudolino at some point. It is a wry and intelligently crafted book, very funny, but also difficult for me to get into the stride of his prose. I'm sure it must be...

    Books set where you live

... add ... William Saroyan, John Steinbeck, and Jack London. I was reminded of these through a wikipedia search. Jack London had a home near here, the acreage and remains of which are now a beautiful state park in Glen Ellen, California, fifteen or so miles away. Got to get over there with...

Voting: June 2006 Book of the Month

I didn't know where to place this question, but, what is the book for May? I can't seem to figure it out from the topics available. I'm going to the library later and would like to see if it's checked in. If someone can help I'd be ever so grateful.:)

    Philip Pullman: His Dark Materials

Love your name, panserbjorne. What a great series this was. From the opening scenes of Lyra in the closet, through her experiences with the Gyptians, and learning the aletheiometer - oh and meeting her parents, Lee Scoresby, and so on, this book just had me snared immediately. I did mention...

    How often do you read?

I read twice a day. Averaging forty-five minutes each morning and again at night. Lots of variation, depending on engrossing qualities of book, other obligations and so on.
