    I agree with you Zooie- i too read Atlas Shrugged only--way back when I was in school...though the thick fat book did enlighten me about the pros of Industrialisation and Commerce, I was not inspired to read another one of her novels. She sounded predictable.

    i think the book is too dark and has somewhat lost its context in present times...can you think of such a romance happening in today's world?

    you may or may not like the character-Mr. Stephens and his value system but the book is really about how a prim and proper gentleman leads his entire life in pursuit of honour and sacrifices a lot of life's true pleasures in the process...

    Austen is my school time favorite. Though she features in the list of classical authors, I think her characters have lost some relevance in these modern times....

    Milan Kundera: The Unbearable Lightness Of Being

    I read this book while I was doing my Literature course in college. This one and The Joke by the same author....the writing is heavy- reading is slow because of the sheer weight of thoughts associated with the writing. I will have to read them again sometime if I have to take home something...
