    what is wrong with society

Life is cheap. The antics of over privileged and under brained people on the other hand are a source of mirth and they also allow us to feel superior in our judgement of them, no wonder those news stories are more popular. IMO, societies have always been this way, it's just more in your face now.

^ In Life of Pi, Martel shot himself in the foot with the whole 'a story that will make you believe in God' line. When you make a claim like that then you had better come up with something important, instead the story that followed just came across as trying too hard with a heavy handed...

Peder, yes the Christmas scene is very well realized and funny. I am discovering Joyce is very particular, he does not let you use your own imagination to fill in gaps. His detail is very thorough, at all moments you know exactly where the scene is to the extent you can point it out on a map...

Muenster too mild for me, I'll take a big slab of stinky Munster instead. No tomato? I thought there was a glimmer of conversation, but it was just my chocolate wrapper shining under the low watt bulb! Gravy, delish. Currently halfway through Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Had...

What is the ultimate sandwich? What is your favourite, Peder? Everyone? Anyone? My partner made a kickass meatball sub last night, it was pretty close to perfection but of course I told him it was rubbish. Row row row your boat Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...

I have been a member here for a while but never participated, occasionally stopped by to lurk. I've yet to come across a forum where there weren't upheavals and clashes, so I ignore those things and focus on conversation. Thanks for the welcome :) An elementary choice! I don't believe it...

Very Louise Brooks. Singing Little Egypt would make me a star, then I'd lose it all, and have to ask Mr.DeMille for my close up. If you had to adopt the clothing and style of a literary character, for a period of one year, which character would you choose? That's all very titillating, but...

Fitzgerald was a drunk in a bad marriage, shouldn't I read something fresh and light next. All writing is jerking off.

Then read Gatsby next. Writing to yourself in public, jerking off.

I couldn't wear a Gatsby without having read Gatsby. I'm not a bum. I'm not on the street. I'm not talking to myself. I'm writing to myself.

Go for the Gatsby. Would you go up to the bum who talks to himself in the street, and strike up a conversation?

The cloche was last year, new year requires new hat. I was hoping a second party would jump in but I seem to be stuck with you.

Nothing. Stick to the Cloche, nothing suits you better. If you're going to have a conversation with yourself you may as well do it in the comfort of your head.
