A critique of Oprah's book club

It means you are condescending. Or, discerning.

    Books?! For Christmas?!?!

The bullying of chubby kids, perhaps?

    Names please

J Finnemore is Joseph Finnemore (1860-1939). J Petts may be the Welsh artist John Petts, but he was not a Victorian. Google should be able to help with the rest if you put in the effort, lazy mucker.

    My Decision

You're too earnest, Pontiac. It's just an internet forum, chill.

    Books?! For Christmas?!?!

I have it on good authority that the Hungry Caterpillar is a treatise on homosexuality, and the difficulty in 'coming out'.

    For Those With Mantal Anguish...

^ There are more effective ways to raise awareness. Be more productive. This thread is crap because it is not informative/educational enough to fulfil your aim for awareness. I'd wager that's about the gist of it.

    Pontiac/AquaBlue on Christmas

The price of wool is up. $1.60 per pound. Jebus appeared on my apple tart. He tasted good. Happy holidays one and all. Pontiac, I clicked on your link. What you get up to with trees is your business, I have a thing for hedges so I can't judge. Discourse? Sure, let's do that.

    Saddam's Koran-written in blood

He should have used the blood of a virgin/tears of a small child. He let down the tyrant fraternity.

    Mindf**k movies.

Not seen I'm Not There yet. I know next to nothing about Dylan's life, and am not too familiar with his music either, beyond the obvious tracks at least. Hedwig & the Angry Inch is funny.

    Nabokov: The Original of Laura

^Indeed! It could be the new must play game during the Holidays, instead of Pictionary. Each family member must rearrange the cards how they see fit and then explain to the rest of the family why their order is best.

    Google Ngram Viewer.

Digital trends: Here it is: Ngrams Clearly a most productive use of my time, it has helped me to discover, 'Cream' has been used more often than 'cheese' 'man' more than 'woman' 'breasts' more than 'penis' 'dog' more than 'cat' 'ass' more than 'arse' and so on.

    Nabokov: The Original of Laura

I bought it. There is something very fascinating about seeing Nabokov's writing process, and handwriting. I can't judge it at all as a piece of fiction though, labelling it a 'novel in fragments' is not correct, imo. Did anyone actually detach the cards and do any rearranging?

J.K. Rowling: Mistakes found in Harry Potter

    ^Well done, Watson.

    Mindf**k movies.

Or maybe Mindfalk. Peter Falk/Columbo, it would fit with the nature of the thread.

    Do You Believe...?

Yeah because people are in no way open to suggestion, and people don't think about their lost loved ones when they are in a precarious state themselves. Imagine, you've gone to all the trouble of following the white light, and then your relatives pop up and tell you it's not your time and you...
