I finish a book, write a review for it, then pick my next book straight away, and I'll usually read the first few chapters of it.
I need to be reading something. Just the thought of not being in the middle of a book scares me.
:D
Two Book Forums.
Two Writing Forums, mod in one, assistant manager in the other.
And three others just because I have friends there.
I used to be in more, but they just died away and I left. I haven't really got the time for a lot of active forums.
I used to be a sci-fi freak, but recently I have been reading a bit of everything.
From The Straw Men, to The Notebook, to Lullaby, to Legend, and now to The Fog. That's thriller, romance, contemporary, fantasy and horror.
To be honest I am not sure what I like best, a good book is a good...
I have just started The Fog by James Herbert. I'm not far into it, but so far so very good. It's starts out all normal and I was thinking that the scene was just being set then wham! something cool happens.
And Martin, look out for Complicity by Banks. The more I think about it, the more I am...
I'm with Martin on this one. The general cheesiness of it all made it good. It was never going to win any oscars, but when I went the cinema I was thoroughly entertained and that's is all I ask out of a movie.
And I have nothing against Will "the fresh prince" Smith. I'm just against the I...
Okay, Martin, imagine the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy movie. Now take out Arthur, Ford, Zaphod, Trillian and Marvin, and then set it on Earth.
What you are feeling now is what I feel about this movie.
I hope this helps.
:D
I have only recently read the book, and when I heard there was going to be a movie my first thought was how can they make a movie out of a load of short stories?
After seeing the trailer I am very disappointed at what they have done. Taken the laws and shoved them into a action film instead...
I've read Survivor, Choke and Lullaby.
By far the best was Survivor, then Lullaby, then Choke.
I found Lullaby to be the least graphic of the three although there is some necrophilia in there that may disgust some, and the end is none too pretty. Some of the things that happen in it are...
I wouldn't say Ender's Game was the best book ever, but it was certainly enjoyable.
I'd add any Philip K. Dick book to the list. In my opinion he is the best SF story teller, although he is not the best writer. Also Alfred Bester.
Have you ever told the Queen that story? I sense a certain Litany being on the next honours list. Anyone who could work on Captain Kirk's head deserves recognition.
I've been looking for the 'making of' short film but i can't find it anywhere. I saw some of it a while back and the frustration they must have gone through. They were making the nut roll along a surface and it took them like 20 takes just to make it roll straight and not fall of, and that was...
I thought that first time. It's the weights in the tyres.

My musical taste is a tad expansive.
It may have been one of the most popualr kids programmes ever, but how in the hell did things like this get aired.

It's well worth the download to watch this, believe me. This is bordering on the...
My all time favourite (so far) is Philip K. Dick, closely followed by Terry Pratchett.
But Iain (m) Banks his pushing up the list, as is Michael Marshall Smith and Chuck Palahniuk.
According to a book I have just read, and that our resident Dr Martin really likes, it is not how many angels, more like whether they are dancing cheek-to-cheek or jitterbugging.
Or words to that affect.
