Don't forget the other variation: I just bought this book, doesn't it sound cool? What do you mean, it's book 3 in a series? Where can I get the first 2? Special order? ebay? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

2nd Quiz: You're Adventures of Huckleberry Finn! by Mark Twain With an affinity for floating down the river, you see things in black and white. The world is strange and new to you and the more you learn about it, the less it makes sense. You probably speak with an accent and others have a...

    Native American Fiction

Try Sherman Alexie and Louise Erdrich for Native American fiction. They're both awesome. Alexie is a bit more accessible.

    Is it just me?

I always try to read the book first before seeing the movie, but I don't mind seeing someone else's vision of it. The English Patient, for example. Incredibly moving book, visually stunning movie. I enjoyed both LOTR versions, as well.

*Prepares Barrier* It is known JK Rowling got the idea of HP from a comic!

Since Gaiman has been a supporter of the Harry Potter books, obviously he isn't all broken up about it. The more you read, the more you discover that there are only so many ideas out there, the important thing is to have an original voice and combine things in a new way. So many great...

*Prepares Barrier* It is known JK Rowling got the idea of HP from a comic!

Sounds pretty unsubstaniated to me. Plus, at least in the states, a settlement is the cheapest way out of a long, painful, and time consuming lawsuit, even if you're not in the wrong.

michael moore is a big fat stupid white man (mn', mn', mn')

America is due for a lot of these. I admire Moore's commitment to raising the questions, I detest his method and his inability to provide any of these answers, or inspire anyone else to do so.

J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

The narrators of GG and CITR are both snobs, but think they aren't. So I can definitely see a comparison.

    Bad Sex Award

I just had to take a plane trip, so I spent it reading an issue of Cosmospolitan cover to cover (it was either that or Maxim). Based on the 2 page excerpt of "Fatal Embrace", I will never read anything by Aris Whittier. On top of absolutely no variety in sentence structure (subject, predicate...

    Contagious

There's a lot of great phrases there. I would say tighten it up a bit, but the imagery is gorgeous.

    Second hand bookshops

Certain kinds of books show up at the used bookstores near me; it's a good resource for some things but not the rarities. Still, I manage to find a lot of things to buy. And I get to recycle the books I don't want to keep - I'm really trying to not keep everything, there's just not room.
