The Urth Of The New Sun is also worth reading after the 4 books (or 2 volumes). It ties up a lot of things.
I think my favourite of the Sun series is the Short Sun.
recently finished:
Tolstoy - Resurrection
Tolstoy - War And Peace
John Bunyan - The Pilgrim's Progress
Thomas More - Utopia
Truman Capote - In Cold Blood
nr: Mervyn Peake - Gormenghast
I read every word. the speed depends on the how the book is written. some well written books I can read at a slower pace and still feel like I read it fast. time flies. other books I rush through at a fast pace. for instance an Alfred Bester book, where the fast plot, action and writing style...
poetry is cool. why did you hate it?
Albert Camus - The Fall
Dostoyevsky - The Devils
Vladimir Nabokov - Invitation to a beheading
John Steinbeck - The Moon Is Down
you could read Gene Wolfe's New/Long/Short Sun sequence.
The Book Of The New Sun + The Urth Of The New Sun
The Book Of The Long Sun
The Book Of The Short Sun
E.R. Eddison - The Worm Ouroboros. The Lords of Demonland seek their kinsman, stolen by the sorcery of the King of Witchland...
Philip K. Dick - The Man In The High Castle
M. John Harrison - Light
Frederik Pohl & Cyril M. Kornbluth - The Space Merchants
Jack Vance - Lyonesse: Suldrun's Garden
Jack Vance - Lyonesse II: The Green Pearl and Madouc
Gene Wolfe - In Green's Jungles
Gene Wolfe - Return To The Whorl
crazy girl I love the way you walk
wait for me slow down so we can talk
about all the super sweet nothings
the sincere glow that happiness brings
shines on brightly in the darkest storm
social norm, we don't have to conform
existing in our own perfect world
standard of eternity unfurled...
Gott der Vater, Gott der Sohn, Gott der heilige Geist
Hope, Faith and Love. A Religion long bereft of Christ
A host of liars waiting for their late messiah
Travel back centuries to find a noble friar
The price of the dollar more important than the soul
Human dignity descending the dark...
ecstatic golden lines of dawn
seven sad riders left to mourn
the passing fragments of the night
overridden by the first light
thirsting for forbidden features
illuminating God's creatures
among the valleys deep
waking the children from their sleep
of dreams that fall amongst sharp rocks...
I've owned it for a few months but haven't got around to reading it yet. same with Les Miserables. just purchased another tolstoy book, Resurrection, which I'll read first.
Olaf Stapledon - Star Maker
