    Sigh - flatmates

My caution would be to those who are living in dorm or residence style accomodation. I did this for my first year of uni. I had the most annoying neighbour in the world, she was always watching tv in my room. Then, because she did it, all my friends started doing it, so my room became the living...

    Introductions

Agreed. I tried to read an intro to an edition of Jane Eyre, where whoever wrote it started talking about events in the story. Sometimes they provide great insight (particularly when you are required to write an essay on the text in question!), but I like to leave them until the end, unless...

    Hilarious Real Courtroom Quotations:

Agreed. Lionel Hutz would be proud.

More from the Most Bizarre Novel Ever Written

Litany - I like it! And also, the detective could turn out to also be a monkey in disguise (and if you like, Wolf, he could say penis a lot to fit into your style), who is really the biological father of both Kong and fez monkey. Tears all 'round.

    funniest lines in a book

I will also put a vote in for "Hitchiker's", and also for "Dirk Gently's...": "He believed in a door. He must find that door. The door was the way to... to... The Door was The Way. Good. Capital letters were always the best way of dealing with things you didn't have a good answer to." I'll...

Shhh, Jughead.....just ignore him and he'll go away.

    Sigh - flatmates

I was in the bad flatmate situation last year. I lived with three other girls, and one of their boyfriends. Living with a couple is hard. They very much felt that it was their house and we just paid rent. It came to a head a few times, and I no longer consider that person a friend. Doesn't it...

    Where do you live??

I'm an Aussie, and I know I've seen a few more around (names escape me at the moment). I lived with some people from Wagga during uni!

Suggestions for books set in WW2?

I'm sure I've mentioned this book elsewhere, but anyway.. "White Coolies" (Betty Jeffrey) is the novel that inspired the film "Paradise Road": Whilst it is not set in Europe, it's a tremendous story told very beautifully.

    Stephen KIng Or Dean Koontz

Don't get me worng, it was entertaining enough, I just thought it had too many similarities to The Stand, which is a far better, albeit much longer, book. But I think there is another Cell thread somewhere.

    Stephen KIng Or Dean Koontz

Don't read Cell. No offense SF, but it's nowhere near his best works. I would put it somewhere near......the bottom.

    Books Obsolete?

As much as we'd all like to say no, I think there's no question that books will one day be obsolete. Besides changes in technology, there is also the fact that in the future we may need to be more careful about how we use any paper that we might be able to produce. Plus, audio or online books...

Try "The Shining", "It", "The Stand", or "Pet Sematary." If you don't like any of these, King's prob not for you.

    Top Ten Science Books...

I haven't read any, but I would love to read Darwin, and the others sound very interesting. I just worry with this type of book that the scientific language will weigh me down. I've read Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everythingnumerous times and loved it, but that was so easy to read...

Nuclear survival, cant think of the title

This is Z for Zacariah, by Robert O'Brien. Great book.

    Last seen...

I saw this a couple of weeks ago with my brother. Absolute Gold. How gorgeous is the girl who played Olive (can't think of her name, or be bothered googling it). It was so hilarious in such a real way. I was crying with laughter by the end, particularly at the dancing scene. The cast is...

    Desperately searching for this book!!

I don't remember anything about unplugged tvs, but I'm fairly sure you're thinking of "The Magician's Nephew," which is the first book in the Narnia series by CS Lewis. Come to think of it, it's not that thick either, so maybe you're thinking of something else that's just plagiarised from Lewis!

    Vocabularies

I cheated and googled it. But I never would have guessed that.

    Gay Parents

Ruby, I agree with you, but I used to be bullied at school because we were poor and my clothes weren't nice. Kids who want to bully will find anything about a vulnerable kid that they can.

    Enid Blyton

I just realised I wrote 23, and I'm only 22. What is wrong with me?
