Does anyone know of any decent and fairly active cinema forums? Stewart, I think I registered at Talk Cinema but there's not a lot going on.
Oh, and if anyone says Rotten Tomatoes, I will throw a bucket of the putrid things at them.
All I can think of, which you've probably already tried, is the word 'tommyknockers'.
In the prefix to his book of the same name, Stephen King mentions that this was the name for the spirits of miners trapped in cave-ins, as they could be heard knocking on the walls of the mines.
I think the LOTR films were brilliantly adapted (you try representing Sauron on film and see how well you do). My favourite is prob TTT, I loved the way Helm's Deep was shot, very moving.
I can't think of anymore right now, will post more later.
Do comics count?...if so...none :)
If you asked a string theorist, they may tell you that anything is possible, just not in this dimension.
But I agree, I don't like it when disillusioned people use it to justify making outrageous claims.
Has this just premiered in the US too? Because it was on here last night. Are we actually getting something at the same time?
I really liked it. Great to see Skeet Ulrich back. This kind of thing really scares me, not in the terrorist sense, just the grand scale catastrophe. The twist with...
I always felt that Shakespeare was portraying Macbeth as a weak man, very susceptible to forces around him and his desire to claim more power. I feel that Lady Macbeth is the villain of the story.
We're into spring and the other day we had over 140 bushfires in our state. I don't know why people were lighting campfires on a 26 degree day with very strong winds.
Looking forward to summer, hopefully I'll have my licence by then and can drive my friends to the great ocean road every week!
"Right here and now, as an old friend used to say, we are in the fluid present, where clear-sightedness never guarantees perfect vision"
King & Straub, black house
I like Macbeth too, there's a film being made (has been made, not sure) set in Melbourne that I'm quite interested in seeing. Not sure how close it sticks to the actual play, but an interesting idea, I feel.
I also like A Midsummer Night's Dream for a bit of a laugh. I studied Romeo and...
JPost, the irresponsibility I referred to was in reference to behaving with animals in this manner on a show meant for children to view. This may not be an issue for children who aren't exposed to these animals in everyday life, but that isn't always the case here. And I do believe that he...
Libre, I agree with you. Whilst he was by all accounts a lovely guy, and he certainly brought Australia back to the attention of many tourists, many Australians did not appreciate the manner in which he treated the animals he worked with. To display this behaviour on shows meant for children is...
3. Remove the Testing forum - it's ugly; I think it's handy for new members (obviously). Did someone say something about hiding it somewhere?
4. Remove Harry Potter and Tolkien subforums - they aren't that busy to warrant them. The mania around them is due to decline (Tolkien now that the...
I think the slytherins would see it as justified!
They have to hang around Draco "bad jokes" Malfoy all day, let's cut them some slack.
And although I like Hermione as a character, she would have been the type of girl who really peed me off in class!
See, I was told once that because I am short-sighted I am able to read faster than people with 20-20 vision (something about not completely focusing on the words, I wasnt really listening). I was telling my brother this and he said that he reads each word and is conscious of it, and he is quite...
I own four copies of "It". The first one had a repeated ection in the middle of around one hundred pages (annoying!!!!!!), the next I lent to a friend and didnt see for a looong time, the third was to replace the second, and the fourth....well...it was cheap!
